@anthropic.com have released Claude Sonnet 4.5 which can apparently work on task for *30 hours* unsupervised. Th e scary thing: if you got a job there, or failed to, that decision was probably made with the help of the LLM! www.theverge.com/ai-artificia...
Anthropic releases Claude Sonnet 4.5 in latest bid for AI agents and coding supremacy
It can run autonomously for 30 hours straight, per Anthropic.

Maia Sandu’s victory in #Moldova, and the failure of the #Russia backed patriotic bloc is great news for #Europe and #Ukraine!

For a country with an economy underpinned by the export of oil products, this is a very serious situation and one that is particularly hard to hide from the population.

RU media report a record refinery crisis: 38% of capacity is offline, mostly due to Ukrainian drone strikes that have hit over 20 plants. In September, four major refineries, including Kinef and Rosneft’s Ryazan, stopped operations. Gasoline output fell by 1M tons, leaving a 20% domestic shortage.

My super-talented tutee there with her balloon skills that says it all.

When I have a moment I’ll do a thread explaining what is going on but in brief LEICESTER IS ON STRIKE!

And that’s that: #Kinlochleven, #Scotland field trip day 5. Not only the last day of this trip, but the last time students from the School of Earth Sciences, University of Bristol come to this beautiful place. Good luck to the students on their independent mapping projects starting tomorrow!

Mind blowing rocks of Rosso Levanto: mantle peridototes that were carbonated and then weathered on the ocean floor of the Piemont-Ligiria ocean.

Very much tectonic - the result of the Caledonian orogeny, approximately 400 million years ago, when Avalonia and Laurentia were sutured together.

#molybdenite is commonly found with sulphides inside diamonds. Diamond inclusions are the only samples we have from depths greater than 250km, i.e. most of Earth. That’s why we study them in the Petrology Group, School of Earth Sciences, University of Bristol: www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

I’m backing the underdog, #Carpathite in today’s #MinCup vote: I wasn’t aware that crystalline polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons existed in nature! PAHs in Antarctic Martian meteorite Allan Hills 84001 were briefly considered as evidence that it once contained microbial life.

Some very useful context here about the incursion by #Russia into the airspace of #Estonia yesterday: unprecedented in its details but not unique.
chriso-wiki.bsky.social
1/ While today's incursion into Estonian airspace by three Russian MIG-31s is the most serious such incident in 30 years, it's not the first time that it's happened. It also highlights a strategic vulnerability for Estonia: it does not have a fully agreed border with Russia. ⬇️
