Many independent minded journalists, lawmakers and Americans are unsure where to turn in a moment when contempt and hate threaten America.

Turn away from the snark and contempt.

1/4 (?) Give to www.transanta.com and trans youth this holiday season. After yesterday’s announcement by Trump's Health & Human Services that they’re moving to ban gender affirming healthcare for trans youth (who does this at this time of year!?).

At the HHS announcement yesterday announcing proposed rules to ban GAC, they said trans people are "at the root of the evils we face" and are "a hatred for nature as God designed it and for life as it was meant to be lived.”

Just in case you thought it was about concerns for proper healthcare.

To all the young people in New York and across our country who count on gender-affirming care:

I won't let this administration come for you, your doctors, or your lifesaving health care.

Your health care is still legal and protected.

I'll always fight for you.

As the only state in the nation that will provide free legal advice to protect the LGBTQ+ community, we'll help fight ignorance with information and cruelty with compassion.

One thing that gets lost in the “trans debate” is that care (I.e. hormones, blockers, etc.) can be seemingly stopped immediately without need of attention.

This is ludicrous.

It is not without effect - physical or emotional - and it’s negligent (in the least to think otherwise.

The things I'm most proud of accomplishing are often things I can't talk about publicly. It's the people I've helped with getting access to legal counsel, winning asylum cases in my prior work, and working with my students.

Oftentimes, the best things are kept private.

Even when I do post about it publicly, it's not I get known for. Amicus briefs, academic articles etc. aren't exactly sexy topics that boost engagement on social media. Parasocial relationships are entirely devoid of the broader context of someone's life.

It is endlessly frustrating for people to think that all I do is social media activism when most of my substantive work is behind the scenes or on behalf of clients that I cannot discuss publicly. Just because you don't see me post about it doesn't mean it's not happening!
