My father, Nick Infante, adored the American beer business. A week ago, he passed away. My column today at @vinepair.com is a tribute to his lifelong passion for the trade, and a challenge to its leaders to hold close all that makes it unique.
The Beer Industry Is Special. My Dad Taught Me That
I love beer, and I love covering the beer industry, and those are two different things. I am constantly explaining to people — angry readers, new sources, confused strangers — that while I personally ...

This content farm scraped six-month old original reporting by the @sfstandard.com, fed it through AI last week, and the fabrication it shit out got pulled into Google News *as new news* and spread so widely that the Standard had to fact-check it. Disgraceful.
Fact check: Anchor Brewing is dormant but not departed
A niche beer publication reported that the famed brewery isn’t staying in the city–but owners say otherwise.

No serious outlet (which by the way American Craft Beer dot com emphatically is not) should ever hire this hack again. Blackballing sloppers isn't enough to fix this problem on its own, but it's something editors and journalists can do right now to start creating consequences for selling us out.

Anchor Brewing Not Leaving SF, Despite False Report Claiming Otherwise
There hasn’t been any news on the rebirth of Anchor Brewing in a while, but there was some fake news about it this week, as a craft beer publication wrongly claimed the company was leaving SF.

I feel like a good upgrade for Sierra Nevada NC would be an underground tram to the airport. Like the US Senate subway.

Listening to a group of sleight of hand magicians discuss and critique their tricks. I can't see what they're doing and it's fascinating. The support they give, surprise each other, story telling and talk about the antecedents of the tricks they are developing. My brain is feeding on group energy.

Floored by the surprise visit from Garrett Oliver at Sierra Nevada Celly Drippins. The real surprise was Garrett came up from behind me and said, "Hey Rob! Game recognizes (hat) game." Both of us happy in the place figuratively and literally where we are. There's more story there. Ask me. #letsdance

“The unvarnished truth is that the real and greatest threat to our kids on Halloween is the automobile. Kids are 3X more likely to be hit by a car on #Halloween than on any other night of the year. By focusing on imagined dangers, communities are failing to take action to actually protect children.”
Opinion: Who hijacked Halloween?
Urban legends abound during Halloween. Some are harmless, but others cause extreme reactions to wholly imaginary dangers.
