Yes, they want to ban actual porn. But also, when they say "porn" they mean everything from Tango Makes Three to I Am Jazz to Genderqueer. They mean anything that lets people who aren't cis and straight see themselves. (To be clear, banning porn is bad enough. That's just not all this is.)
"Pornography should be outlawed. The people who produce and distribute it should be imprisoned. Educators and public librarians who purvey it should be classed as registered sex offenders. And telecommunications and technology firms that facilitate its spread should be shuttered." — Russ Vought
Project 2025 Co-Author Caught Admitting the Secret Conservative Plan to Ban Porn
In a hidden-camera recording, Russ Vought explains that age verification laws are just pretext to shut down porn sites.

NCMEC is tracks the distribution of CSAM — child sex abuse material— online. On Twitter. On Reddit. On dating sites. On adult.

I’ve had my issues with them but that the GOP would defund the work if they refuse to comply with Trump’s transphobic erasure orders is shocking and appalling.
New — The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) was told this week by DOJ that they'd lose their funding if the org didn't remove any mentions of LGBTQIA+ issues from their public materials, I've learned. Staff were told they need to deadname trans kids in their reports to comply.

I promised some historical background relevant to the implication that "DEI" had played a role in Wednesday's tragic accident in DC. Since today is the 1st day of #BlackHistoryMonth, it's time to lay this out.

So, herewith a 🧵 on just what it took to integrate commercial aviation in the 1st place.
Important 🧵 on DEI in airline industry by someone who knows the evidence and why current claims actually endanger safety. 👀

To answer the number one comment here, the Internet Archive is OF COURSE mirrored and backed up in numerous places, including outside the USA, so even if jack-booted troopers were to kick in its San Francisco door it could be relaunched somewhere else.
The Internet Archive has to date downloaded 500 terabytes of US government websites, which it crawls at the end of every presidential term. The whole archive is fully searchable. This effort's housed by a donation-funded nonprofit, not a branch of the US government. blog.archive.org/2024/05/08/e...

This is my favorite picture of Stonewall.

They knew they were getting arrested just for being LGBTQ+.

Yet... they're still here, standing outside of the boarded up Stonewall Inn, smiling as the world was at a fever pitch of hatred against them.

I think about it a lot in moments like this.

Really important point! While Trump telegraphed these moves before becoming President, he said he’d do it by passing laws. These executive orders are because he can’t.
Do you know why a president would do all the most evil and heinous shit via Executive Order? Because his party can't easily make it law. And if they can't make it law, they can't make it last.

Don't let anyone make you feel like this is The End. Do not let them demoralize you. Live to see them die.

Just a reminder that as Trump weaponizes law enforcement to target dissent, a lot of people need to start including law enforcement in their thread modeling.

That means STOP USING FACE ID AND THUMBPRINTS. You need a long, strong passcode for your phone.

This protects you AND everyone you talk to

All the self-professed moderates and centrists saying "Calm down, we survived Trump the first time and will survive him again" need to interrogate the "we" that applies to (and who it leaves out).
I know there’s a lot right now. But folks need to understand what this means.

A suspension this long would mean people living with HIV lose their medicine for months. People around the world lose their PrEP for months, putting millions at risk of getting HIV. Drug-resistant strains could emerge.
