5. By interviewing your target, you create the impression that you’ve given them to chance to respond to the points you’re making. But if you haven’t – if in fact you’ve told them something completely different – well, there are various words for that, and none of them are complimentary.

4. There are 2 fundamental principles in journalism: if you are to conduct a hostile interview, first you tell the target what it’s about, then you put to them the criticisms you intend to make. Greenwashed did neither. The first I knew of its real agenda was when I started getting hate on socials.

1. This short thread is about what I see as a serious breach of journalistic ethics, in the making of Sofia Pineda Ochoa’s online documentary Greenwashed. She interviewed me for the film, but neither before, during or after was I given any idea I would be its target. www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjWU...

Voters aren’t drifting. They’re deciding.

The old certainties are slipping. The centre is stalling. The big parties are losing ground.

And the Greens are moving from 1.9% to 5.1%.

This is what happens when people stop voting out of habit and start voting for change.

Five percent changes everything!

From 1.9 percent at the last Assembly election to over 5 percent now. That’s not noise. That’s a shift.

While the old parties stall and posture, people are backing a politics that tackles bills, housing, climate and inequality head-on.

Something must be done about *them* breeding too fast, rather than *us* consuming too fast. All too often, residual population growth is used as a scapegoat to shift blame from rich-world impacts, which means that the people in places where growth is still occurring are themselves scapegoated.

Because the issue of population change is so widely misunderstood, here's a short thread which seeks to lay it out simply.
It explains why there is almost nothing anyone can do to change the global population trajectory, both as numbers rise, then as they fall.

Have noticed people IRL being casually anti-Semitic of late in a way I don't ever remember before - dropping things like "oh, shur they control the media, I saw it on Facebook" etc, largely via right-wing propaganda. Wherever it comes from or whatever the reason, it's real and it's so, so dangerous.

I see this so often that I think it might qualify as a law:

The time people take to notice demographic trends is equal to the time required for the results to materialise.

In other words, however obvious the maths might be, we cannot or will not see it coming.
Trump thinks immigrants will destroy Europe. The truth is the opposite.
This column is about the long arc of population change, the hybridity of European cultures, and the widely-misinterpreted results of demographic momentum.
Big issues we need to understand.

Beers of any kind only need to be served cold if they don't taste good. A mouthful of nutty brown is delicious when served body warm. If you find yourself looking for ice cold beer then your problem is bad beer not refrigeration.

It's noticeable that the people who are now angriest with Keir Starmer's Labour government are those who voted for it. And they are right to be. This has been his primary achievement.
So where on earth does he think Labour voters will come from, next time round?
How many times do we need to point this out?
By appeasing the far right, you do not weaken it. You strengthen it.
While weakening your own position.
There's a vast amount of academic research showing this.
But Labour will not listen.

I see the PM is being very rattled and very untruthful about the Greens again in the papers.

He couldn’t say this stuff in Parliament because he would be lying to the House - both about what our popular, evidence-based policies are, and about him believing this guff.
