I'm proud to say I wrote the Shadows of the Damned essay book for this, and I'm happy with how it turned out!

People sometimes look down on DMD like it's a stain on GhM's legacy because of EA, and while there's some merit to that, I tried to explain why that's reductive and not entirely fair.

Bowing to racist dorks is all the rage now, sadly

the cool thing is that even with all the new games coming out, you can still just go back and play RE4

why repeatedly freeze Verdugo when you can just wiggle knife him to death

I don't know if these calls are effective, but I may as well put it out there. If any editors need help covering the fall onslaught, I'm open for work doing reviews/guides/whatever. I have 9 years of experience editing & doing all types of games coverage. My portfolio is in my bio & my DMs are open!

also applicable to most David Cage games, honestly

(I wasn't laid off, but I just figured I'd try to broaden my horizons. Anyway here is a picture of Piki.)

Coincidentally, I also have a similar rule for myself!

Trust me, I clocked it and appreciated that someone said it!

Although a thing I would have gone harder on is how a ton of reviews waste so much space speculating what fans will like or, worse, confidently proclaiming what they will and won't like. It's *your* review! Use *your* thoughts!!!! Readers will come to their own conclusions if you are clear!

This is a pretty good discussion about game reviews and touches on why some are so underwhelming to read.

Now if only we could stop doing the plot summary in the second paragraph and spending too much time just explaining what the game is with no critical analysis...

This is political violence. It's only accepted because the state claims the monopoly on violence.

I was back at 26 Federal Plaza today, where an ICE agent violently threw this bereft woman to the ground in front of her kids. She had not touched him. She did not pose any threat. She had to be taken to the hospital. (🎥: Elias Eliahu)

So they cling to civility as a shield to cover the monstrous barbarities the system they defend does. Civility becomes calmly discussing millions of people dying as a result of cuts to USAID and ignoring the mass death and violence of that act. Civility is often a mask for vicious barbarity.

Deep down, so many of the liberal elite are unwilling to sacrifice any bit of discomfort to bring about a more just society because the current system has given them their wealth, prestige, and platform. They are hopelessly inured to a failing system and unwilling to break from it.

i hope nobody still accepts the bullshit "to appeal to more voters" framing. rich people are spending money to push the politics they favor, it has absolutely nothing to do with electability

Great read! Very detailed and thorough. (Also fuck long corpse runs.)

I came to that conclusion when I eagerly bought Supernova on PS3 and then only played it like three times. Those Vita days were good, and it's a shame the system didn't live longer!

I did twice (and read your feature on it), and I rarely play any demo even once. Portability is a big part of Lumines for me so ES is going to be hard to top, but Arise seems to have the sauce.
