Nature is where I find my inspiration, solace, and wonder throughout my life.
How many ways can this admin irreparably squander our invaluable & interdependent economic, diplomatic, and soft power relations with the world!

Ceding everything to China for their own short-sighted corruption grift.

I think we need a new talk show.

Get trump voters, cabinet members, ice agents on there, let them share their views for five minutes.

Then the host simply nods and asks, "The fuck is wrong with you?"

Arsenio Hall or Wanda Sykes would be top choices for hosting.

How times have changed (not). Recall that at this time Speaker Newt Gingrich was having an affair, while his wife was hospitalized for cancer he served her divorce papers.

Since Reagan, it’s been projection against enemies. The “goose & gander” of the aphorism are never equally”sauced.” Go figure.

Like it or not, what Trump says or does while US president represents you as a whole, an entire country, an entire people, whether you voted for him or not, protest him or not, he is your legal and international face, and YES that should piss you the fuck off. It is possible for you to be angrier.

I just wrote about how Trump's speech last night was a farce. Worse, the fact that all the major networks gave him time to delivery is a tragedy for a free press and democracy.

The vote, until otherwise proven:

Democracy = Dems
Fascism= Republicans
Fascism = not voting

Vote blue to keep our liberties & freedoms in a representative republic.

Vote red to lose it all.
Already seeing tons of fellow Progressives planning to boycott voting again because their mythical “perfect” Candidate doesn’t exist. No. You will vote, and you will vote for the most viable Candidate who isn’t the Fascist Republican Nominee. It may be our last chance ever to restore Democracy.

I want to take the hand of every Democratic senator and gently tell them:

"I know you're trying, but I swear to god, if we take back Congress and don't eliminate the filibuster and spend several more years telling people what we wish we could do, I'll spend every day hoping you step on LEGOs."

You deserve the facts, not conjecture. Alzheimer's diminishes a person. Trump's not diminishing, he's escalating, and you need to know the frightening reason why.

Something @hcrichardson.bsky.social said the other day has really stuck with me. Abridged:

The U.S. is a fabulously wealthy country. But it's not just in bank accounts. Knowing you can get in your car and drive to the supermarket ... clean hot water ... electricity. That's wealth.

Yep, they are ALREADY going after Medicare. Piloting extended prior authorizations like Medicare Advantage (private insurance in lieu of gov. Medicare) “to reduce waste.”
In essence, testing how many elders’ health they can impact before the political heat gets too high.

Ossoff: "This is so much deeper than the politics. What does it say about the moral condition of this Congress that the thing that has them all tied up in knots is a very simple question: Should people's health insurance premiums go up double or triple? This is a policy choice."

The right has had four long-term projects since the 1980s: 1) roll back civil and gay rights; 2) take away the rights of women to control their bodies; 3) refusal to protect from gun deaths; and 4) neuter the power of administrative agencies. SCOTUS is doing it for them.
The authoritarian takover of the state bureaucracy might not *sound* like a big deal. But SCOTUS giving Trump the ability to fire the federal government is a God-King power, and represents a failure of the American Revolution.

again, the supreme court did not write the constitution (or the declaration) and—despite what you may think—they don't have the monopoly on the interpretation of those documents.

the people have a say, and if the court is out of step with the people, that's a problem for the court, not the governed
i think to understand the meaning of the birthright citizenship clause to the framers of the 14th amendment, you have to understand significance of dred scott to the civil war republican party. dred scott wasn't just a bad ruling, it was understood as a rejection of the declaration itself.

Insurance companies know the impacts of climate change & are raising $ & pulling out of markets where rising claims are likely.

Follow the money.

As Powell says, you won’t be able to get a mortgage or homeowners insurance on your largest asset in a decade…

Major disaster impact ahead for many.
Like I've said before, if you have any doubts about climate change, just go to a super-boring insurance conference and listen to the super-boring panels where they dryly talk about the growing threat of disasters so catastrophic and unpredictable in scope they simply cannot be insured at any price.
Wild how the Fed chair saying that *entire regions of the United States* won’t be able to get a mortgage in the next decade barely registered as a news event
