I might not be a Realpolitik Mastermind like Mr. Speaker, but if I'd be disappointed to see a bill passed, I simply wouldn't vote for it. I would even consider voting against it.

Fun fact: Slack (the co.) was originally developing a game. A lot of the sounds, like the funny hold music and the “knock-brush” notification, were originally game assets.
in a beta of one of my twine games, one of the early scenes played the slack message sound as you get pinged (which was supposed to feel anticipation) but playtesters felt upset and legitimately stressed. i wasnt trying to make them feel that until later so i removed it

ACTUALLY, there was only one palantir even in the West, which was pretty much defended by the Valar anyway. And in Middle Earth, the palantiri were probably most useful in defending the east from Sauron (and earlier, the north from Melkor and the Witch-king).
