Many Ukrainians “want, even now, to have a government that’s accountable to the public”—while American and Russian kleptocrats are looking to benefit only themselves, @anneapplebaum.bsky.social writes.
Trumpian Corruption Is Worse Than Ukrainian Corruption
The people of Ukraine want an honest government, even as American and Russian kleptocrats circle their country.

How to buy yourself a needy malignant narcissist? Just offer him a phony, made up "Peace Prize" & he's all your's!!!
No need for a formal ceremony as he'll snatch from the box & put it on all by himself. Both laughably pathetic AND pathetically laughable. 🤡 🫣

And here is the map of Hawaii's tsunami evacuation zones. This is the same map that the state uses, but the state's website is struggling a bit today, and this one is not. tsunami.coast.noaa.gov

Not really an overstatement to say that the test of a free society is whether or not comedians can make fun of the country's leader on TV without repurcussions.

So they took away state Medicaid expansion and replaced it with state concentration camp expansion.
Awful: Stephen Miller is urging red states to build their own versions of "Alligator Alcatraz." And guess what: Buried in the budget bill is funding that states can try to tap for exactly that.

This could become a route to MAGA glory for young GOPers. 1/

I'd like for the left to reclaim "conservative" as @michaelianblack.bsky.social has done so well here. For a long time I've avoided describing the GOP as such because they're not conservative, they're extremist. They're not liberal either, they're illiberal... www.thedailybeast.com/welp-donald-...

This article says what I've been saying for a long time: that California is simply ahead of other states in encountering many issues (homelessness, housing shortages, etc.). And the good news for the rest of the country is that we have been warned. www.theatlantic.com/economy/arch...

I've been pretty quiet on my socials for the last week because I've been out of town for work and whatnot. As usual, Trump did a bunch of crazy shit, and I hate all of it. I refuse to normalize any of this.

We’ve bombed Iran. And dismantled our joint terrorism task force. And sent a third of the FBI to help ICE. And gutted the National Security Council. And a drunk guy is in charge at the pentagon. And our intelligence allies probably won’t share intel with us. Because people couldn’t vote for a woman.

All these Republicans name-dropping Jesus, like Ernst and Hegseth have done recently, are cosplaying Christianity. Or to paraphrase the Bible, they draw close to him with their words, but their hearts are far from him.
Seriously, they're the worst!

I just assumed ICE was wearing masks to guard against the spread of measles or whatever. Maybe they all just have a little cold but they're short on sick leave.
Libs sure loved masks when it came to mitigating a world-stopping respiratory virus. But now that armed agents of the state are using them to harass innocent people with impunity, suddenly masks are bad! Make up your mind, libs!

How I fear this will go: Trump continues to escalate, not just in LA, but around the country. He invokes the insurrection act. He calls for martial law. He suspends elections.

Trump's response to the LA protests is exactly what you'd expect from this incompetent administration. They're dangerously out of their league.
