‘We may be tempted to claim a “non-political” stance — therapy space as neutral, sacred, untouched. But as has been voiced before: neutrality is not an ethically valid position when fundamental human rights are under attack. Silence is not neutral. It is a form of complicity.’

It’s important to demand accountability for Trump’s sexually predatory targeting young girls whether or not we think we’ll get it in the form we want.

If WE stop acting like raping and trafficking minors is a big deal, then we become complicit in normalizing it.

I think they fuck up fairly often, and should fuck up less. I think they are under political pressures and directed attacks which increase the fuckups. I think there are some bad people there as there are everywhere. I also think there are a huge number of people still dedicated to impartiality.

The reaction to the Panorama edit has been nothing short of hysterical. Yes the BBC has some impartiality problems. But its biggest isn't the one you think.

The BBC once again finds itself making news, rather than breaking news. As my colleagues and I find, based on surveying over 11,000 people, one part of British society trusts the BBC a lot more than another. There's a clear partisan and left-right divide in trust for the BBC.

Exactly right. Mistakes must be corrected, but deliberate campaigns should be recognised for what they are.
BBC’s Nick Robinson on #Trump #BBC row: “As ever..it’s clear that there is genuine concern about editorial standards+mistakes. There is also a political campaign by people who want to destroy the organisation that you are currently listening to. Both things are happening at the same time.”

Shadow ministers paid to ‘advise’ the same industries they’re meant to scrutinise. Conflict of interest institutionalized. Paymasters served.
