“A drafted presentation in January showed that JPMorgan management anticipated so-called “quiet quitting” and attrition as a result of the new policy.”

The bank was willing to take an actual productivity hit just to force staff back to the office 5 days. Pathetic

So many historians who are thoughtful and interesting in books and then complete lunatics in the pages of the Telegraph and the Mail. Surely they don't need the money that badly?

DWP rules to stop scams during pension transfers are important, but data consistently shows they aren't being applied as intended, with thousands of transfers held up for 'unknown reasons' or because of low-risk overseas investments - as @pensionsdave.bsky.social says, a balance needs to be struck

Terrible idea back then, even worse now with the knowledge of what this did to US education and social compact.
I find this troubling. 'Tapping into philanthropy' is hardly an innovative suggestion: lots of universities already invest huge time and effort in fundraising. And a solution to the funding crisis that seems to presuppose it would work only for a handful of institutions isn't much of a solution.
The most prestigious unis should be more like US colleges in how they are funded, Oxford chancellor hopeful Dominic Grieve told @matildamartin.bsky.social

The ex-Tory MP said Oxford & Cambridge should embrace "philanthropy" & be less dependent on tuition fees

thoughts and prayers for the struggling parents who sent their child/ren to a school which currently costs *checks notes* £52,749 a year
With new figures showing that more than one in three children in the UK are now living in poverty, with deprivation hitting a record high, it's good to see the Times focusing on the people who are really struggling

This is really getting quite remarkable

• BlueSky user numbers have doubled in the past week and now total 3.5 million across US & UK 🚀

• Number of people deleting their X/Twitter account remains way up

And the next chart is particularly notable...

Almost £1billion funding confirmed to help sustain / improve bus service levels across the U.K.. I grew up in a village with one bus service a day that was cut to zero services a day - no way in or out without a car. Hope those kinds of areas see some benefit

pretty huge news for credit unions - the government is reviewing the requirement for members to have a “common bond”, like the same employer or locality, to help them grow - credit unions are really valuable & under-utilised so it’s just good to see the gov’t taking an interest
