For an example: in many kids who are experiencing sexual abuse by a parent, family member, neighbor, teacher, religious leader, etc, the abuse started before they understood what sex *was*, and is tied up in a messy set of feelings conflating their feelings about the abuse and love for the abuser.

Absolutely! When I am feeling particularly conspiracy-minded, which I try really hard not to be, I think the correlation between support for abstinence-only sex ed/no sex ed at all and child sexual abuse rates in many political and religious groups is deliberate

I’ve been trans (and ace) for longer than I’ve had the vocabulary or confidence to express it.
No prides to go to, no queer sex ed, no representation.
That isolated struggle is quite horrible, and being yourself shouldn’t require reinventing the wheel.

sometimes i tell cis people i didnt know you could transition until chelsea manning came out as trans and they dont believe me. they seem to think trans resources have ways existed and trans people have always found each other. like no babe i grew up in rural oregon i didnt even know any gay people

One of the reasons Christian sex abusers are against sex ed is because sex ed teaches kids about consent and these abusive pastors know it puts them at risk of being discovered and prosecuted.
The pattern of "religious" men abusing children is real and documented. It's infuriating that LGBTQ+ people bear the brunt of moral panic rhetoric while the actual harm to children is coming from the very people doing the loudest screaming about "protecting" them. #NotADragQueen
