Interesting feedback I'm hearing from some people. While it's a good idea in principle, Apple hasn't shared many technical details yet (Apple wouldn't comment on the record — a requirement for me). And some have stopped trusting Apple as much (or at all) thanks to CEO Tim Cook pandering up to Trump.

It seems the reason is purely to curry favours with the current administration, as Amazon likely doesn't expect many people to actually watch that movie otherwise.
