In England on a two-way road with less than 1.5 lane width and posted speed limit is 60mph.

Can anyone explain wtf?

Today I read that the UK currently has 6.3 million patients on waiting lists for 7.5 million procedures.

This same weekend I can't get my kid's prescription filled because every pharmacy NETWORK (not just shops) are on backorder.

#rationedHealthcare is literally killing people while Brits be like

Something I haven't seen on bluesky yet:

While everyone is enraged at Trump pardoning Jan6 criminals, no one seems to be all that bothered with Biden granting clemency for Michael Conahan aka the "kids for cash judge" who took bribes to send over 2,300 kids to jail/juvey (some as young as 8).

Something no one warns you about when you’re a kid:

You can still have horrific, reality-bending nightmares as an adult. “Growing up” didn’t make it stop.

One of my favourite quotes of all time
“We can disagree and still love each other unless your disagreement is rooted in my oppression and denial of my humanity and right to exist”

say you can install a display screen on your forearm that you can read and interface with and have two choices to make

1) which arm does it get installed on (dominant side or other)

2) on the outside of the forearm (same as the back of your hand) or inside (same as your palm).

What do you choose?

just blurted out in class "yes, you have to cite where you got your info. in a world in which lying loudly is the only thing that seems to get rewarded, citing your sources is an act of resistance" and folks, I really believe that.

Biden pardoning Michael Conahan has to be one of the most egregious pardons of all time. Conahan was universally hated by both D's and R's.

It's also the perfect demonstration of why it's a terrible idea to equate political lines with morality.

Confusing political alignment with morality is daft

Anything can always get worse. The internet is a really good teacher for this subject.

Also: people. People are also a really good teacher of this subject.
Jesus, Twitter has, if anything, gotten worse.

How is that possible?

Honest question: I'm in UK where #rationedHealthcare cause 100k's of preventable deaths per year bit.ly/4ghhtP4. After living in CA+US+UK I still haven't seen a system that is better at keeping people alive than US

I get the frustration with private health insurance, but what's the alternative?
Avoidable mortality in the UK - Office for National Statistics
Deaths from causes considered avoidable, treatable or preventable given timely and effective healthcare or public health interventions.

Saw post claiming NHS is cheaper than US private health insurance. Having lived in both, I posted to say that wasn't correct. I woke up blocked

I get safety & I'm not bothered; but for all the noise about MAGA ignoring facts, I'm not seeing much difference here. Disappointing start to today

This talk in the US about socialised healthcare is not well informed. I’ve lived in Canada, USA, and UK. I’ll tell you this:

Government-run healthcare is a lot like communism. Not in the way you’re thinking. In government run healthcare, the service and care you get is rationed. Wait times kill.

I was super stoked to join Bluesky and see a community that looked like a very different place from the hot-take-central of X.

But all the posts cheering the public murder of someone based on their job title has really grossed me out. From where I’m sitting this doesn’t look any different than X

Rock-solid callout here. You can’t ignore that humans are doing the science and they have all kinds of hangups. Demographics in drug trials are a great example.
Sort of a bit tired of seeing posts that takes for granted that science is entirely value free. What question did you choose to study? Did you pick it at random? Thought not. What do you measure? Why that and not something else?
