Breaking from @science.org: The Trump administration wants to kill off a host of active and healthy NASA climate and planetary spacecraft. It would be a "leaner, more focused" agency, they say -- and one far less capable of studying the Earth and exploring space.
Dozens of active and planned NASA spacecraft killed in Trump budget request
Proposal would end nearly all new major science missions

Published today in the @ametsoc.org Journal of Climate, my rather long paper shows that the average upwelling in the equatorial Pacific is 13.1 ± 6.9 meters per day. This is much faster than historical estimates and the latest generation of global climate models.

Easy to miss amidst the avalanche of bullshit, but scientists have shown conclusively that a handful of fossil fuel companies are responsible for trillions in damages for their contribution to heat waves alone. The great @roycerk2.bsky.social explains: drilled.media/news/heat-at...
“Numbers in the Trillions”: Fossil Fuel Producers on Hook for Climate Harms
New research suggests a way to link oil, gas and coal companies to specific climate harms.

The Trump administration is planning to cancel its lease at a government laboratory in Hawaii, a site where scientists support key observations of surging greenhouse gas levels in the atmosphere, according to a list obtained by Democratic members of Congress and shared with The Post.
Trump moves to close facility that helps track planet-warming pollution
The lab is connected to the Mauna Loa Observatory, where scientists gather data to produce the Keeling Curve, a chart on the daily status of atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations.
