I can't believe we're nominated for a NEBULA AWARD FOR GAME WRITING. I'm stunned! This is beyond my wildest dreams. 😭

So much of this is my stellar Narrative Lead @karriebear.bsky.social and, truly, the entire Pacific Drive team has earned this accolade. 🎉 @ironwood.bsky.social it was a privilege!
A selfie of Paul, very excited, holding up the list of Nebula Award nominees for Game Writing, which includes Pacific Drive. A list of the titles nominated for the 2025 Nebula Award for Game Writing.

It includes:
1000xRESIST
Restore, Reflect, Retry
A Death in Hyperspace
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
The Ghost and the Golem
Pacific Drive
Slay the Princess - The Pristine Cut
Yazeba's Bed & Breakfast

(Thanks so much to everyone who added context and info to this, including how suspect that subreddit can be and that this is more likely the latest bullshit conspiracy. I sure ended up internet deep diving tonight.

But holy shit the way that he talks to his pet and to people generally. Why?!)

That's a fair point, thank you! I'll be a bit more mindful next time.

Thanks for letting me know! I ended up falling down an internet rabbit hole on this and all sorts. I'm still alarmed at how his first reaction to animal distress was anger (he always seems so angry), but you're absolutely right, that subreddit certainly seems to have a bias, doesn't it?

I feel like I'm still missing something fundamental in my judgement, that I've been unable to grow beyond naivety. I see these people who clearly present themselves as unkind, impatient or derisive, over and over, and yet somehow they will have these enormous audiences. I just don't get it.

I rarely find myself following what A Famous does, but the recent discussion about Hasan Piker gaslighting viewers about using a shock collar on his dog raises the eternal question: how is it that obviously arrogant, unkind, dismissive people still build fanbases?!

I don't seriouspost that much anymore, mostly because I'm tired and more cynical about the efficacy of the effort, but I'll give it a try for old time's sake.

It has been de rigueur for many professional posters to insist on participating in American democratic processes as a remedy for discontent.

Weird that the art gallery has my dating profile pics.
A portrait from the Montréal museum of fine Arts depicting a man with a massive fringe and apparently very little forehead.

Years on, this remains one of my absolute favourite signs ever.
A bespoke sign consisting of a piece of A4 paper upon which the header "Elevator" has been printed. Below it are two blue boxes from which arrows point to the right. Both boxes ALSO contain the world "Elevator", but the arrows coming out of them have two bullet points each. The four resulting lines read:

- To Your Right
- Thanks
- For Your
- Patience

Somewhere in something I forget now, Vonnegut said you can never know the consequences of your work, but writing really does change people's minds, offer them good ideas and help dispel bad ones. It can turn people away from making poor choices that we never have to suffer the consequences of.

This is a very cool summary but oh my GOSH that preview image!

Give folks their flowers

No, I mean right now. Go tell someone you loved their work right now. They're on social media just say it, it has never been easier

"They know how much people love--" no they don't go say it right now to a composer or artist or game dev or writer or anyone AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH

This is a lightning bolt in a storm.

On Jupiter.
A view from above of a large cyclonic storm that is mainly a grey colour, set against a swirling backdrop of more bluish smaller storms. At the 12 o'clock position in the large storm is a small point of green light, which is a lightning bolt. This scene is on Jupiter.
