Casual reminder that the myth of “pulling yourself up by your bootstraps” is a cruel hoax designed to convince poor people from all walks of life that the injustices they face are a result of their own actions, rather than an oppressive system rigged against them.

Sadly history always repeats. As a outsider looking in the authoritarian play book is alive and well in America.
So Bari Weiss’s first real editorial intervention at CBS is to repress coverage of American concentration camps.

From childhood they leant about #water conservation, #ozone hole reduction, global warming / #climatechange, potential dangers of #nuclear radiation

Fast forward 2025 and #greed, #capitalism and #oligarchs are undoing all

Frydenberg’s comments are misleading because they conflate two very different situations: a politically motivated mass terror attack linked (at least narratively) to post–October 7 antisemitism, and the Bondi killings by a man described by police as having isis issues driven by ideology.

Doesn't matter where you are in the world, greed is consuming multinationals.
Amazon announced 14,000 layoffs. Its CEO made over $40M last year.

UPS announced 48,000 layoffs. Its CEO made over $24M last year.

Intel announced 20,000 layoffs. Its new CEO's pay package is valued at nearly $69M.

This is what I mean when I say the system is rigged.

A Labor government that reversed their long standing policy against mandatory sentencing now plans to reverse the legal principle of innocent until proven guilty - and give police the power to starve people, deny them medical care or make them homeless - with no proof of a crime. #auspol
Labor are sneaking through extraordinary powers to let police and ASIO cut peoples welfare if they’ve been charged with a crime.

This is an unacceptable power grab, and will harm families and partners of people reliant on payments to survive.
