Is there any lobby group she hasn't succumbed to?
How can anyone have confidence in her?
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said today that the fight against climate change was not against the fuels that cause it — only the pollution they emit.
Von der Leyen says EU is not fighting fossil fuels, only emissions
The comment could undermine European countries’ push at COP30 to move away from coal, oil and gas.

Researching this week's column, I stumbled across something that amazed me:
the near-absence of reliable data about climate impacts over most of the
world. Due to the rich world's failure to fund research. We don't know
because our governments don't care. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
There’s a catastrophic black hole in our climate data – and it’s a gift to deniers | George Monbiot
Climate sceptics tell us that more people die of extreme cold than extreme heat. What’s the truth? asks Guardian columnist George Monbiot

@newschambers.bsky.social excellent point well made about the opinion columnists on the national airwaves.
The standard of radio interview is drifting ever closer to the US style. Where you'll eventually end up with "bubble radio" where you tune into a station knowing it will reflect your beliefs.

The Fugitive!!
Gardaí have been unable to locate Enoch Burke after twice calling to his house yesterday to imprison him for contempt of court.

A High Court judge ordered the former teacher's return to prison on Tuesday.

Nature isn’t a “blocker” – it makes our lives better.

Our coast, countryside, heritage and wildlife underpin our food, water and health and put millions of pounds into the economy. The Government must not weaken the laws that protect them.

What's worse is that the journalists just sat there and accepted it. They should remember that moment if the state comes for them in the future and all their colleagues turn a blind eye. Not surprising though, their Palestinian colleagues found out very quickly.
I think the President of the US responding to a question about the murder of a journalist with "A lot of people didn't like that gentleman" is probably pretty bad.

Very valid point!
I mean, look, I'm not a reporter, so who am I to talk?

But on a day where the president both just called a woman reporter "Piggy" and is celebrating someone who had people bone saw apart one of my colleagues, I might just be a little ready to defend my colleagues and profession.

But that's just me
