The Israeli military’s genocide isn’t over, it’s expanding.

The Israeli government has violated the truce nearly 500 times in 44 days, killing over 342 Palestinians in Gaza, according to Gaza’s Government Media Office, including 28 Palestinians in the past three days.

From Affordability to Genocide, Trump-Mamdani Meeting Was Full of Surprises
After months of mutual animosity, President Donald Trump and New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani met for the first time in a widely anticipated meeting late last week. But after the two discussed...

Is he talking about Trump's Russia-Ukraine, "peace plan," which everyone condemns, or his Israel-Palestine "peace plan," which everyone or at least the UN Security Council approuved?
Rewarding a dictator-aggressor always leads to another war. One that is usually even worse.

Impracticality. (Occupational hazard.)
Almost a year now since I received this absolutely classic burn from the Canadian government.

How about short-termism? I remember feeling the opposite of shame when Diane Feinstein, Harvey Milk's blood on her skirt, pulled our city together.
An underappreciated aspect of Democratic leaders' 'age problem' is the shame of aging in a society that equates worth with productivity. That shame is shaping who stays, who steps aside, and who steps up, and it’s already altering the political landscape ahead of 2026.

PS: Why do they have to start it with 'two-time Grammy winner,' as if that was his claim to fame? 'Nuff respect to DJs like @dougwendt.bsky.social and his pioneering Midnight Dread shows for making ours a Reggae Nation, and to Marley, but Jimmy's huge achievement was popularizing reggae wordwide.

A giant has moved out of Babylon.
Those who should share yet hold at same time do neither well. More holders of shares needed in our democracy. Yes I.

Sad news just posted by @dougwendt.bsky.social , my DJ Guru. Jimmy Cliff's Harder they Come soundtrack was the first reggae I was ever exposed to. I can even remember where and when. And the rest is His Story.

A tale of 2 treaties: A bully proposes rewarding an internationally wanted war criminal for his crimes by giving him illegally occupied territory, disarming the victim, & granting the criminal amnesty. When the victim is Ukraine, political leaders & the media are up in arms. Where it's Gaza, no prob

Hakeem was obviously visited by the Ghost of McCarthyism past.
US Congress voted 285–98 to condemn "socialism." 88 Democrats joined Republicans, including Hakeem Jeffries.

What they mean by socialism is your access to healthcare, housing, safety regulations, and anything that benefits you instead of the oligarchy. There has been no vote to condemn fascism. #3E

As we say in California, "Go for it!"
Just checking in on that brilliant plan to “Mamdanify” all the Dems that Rs were confidently telling Politico would win the midterms a couple weeks ago. How‘s that looking?
Republicans try to turn national Democratic candidates into Mamdani copycats
Republicans are working to make New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani the face of the Democratic Party in the midterms.

The former is practically a criminal offense in France. And tant mieux. And a noose isn't just a hate symbol, it's a death threat.
The Trump Admin will fire you for having a Pride flag on your desk but downplays & normalizes swastikas & nooses?

Over 400,000 Americans died fighting Nazism. Hundreds of thousands died fighting slavery & Jim Crow.

This is a slap in the face to every American who died to defeat bigoted ideologies.
U.S. Coast Guard will no longer classify swastikas, nooses as hate symbols
The military service, which falls under the Department of Homeland Security, has drafted a new policy that classifies such items “potentially divisive.”

LET'S FUCKING GO
NEW IL-09 poll with the Justice Coalition Action: Daniel Biss and Kat Abughazaleh are tied for first in the Democratic primary with 18% of the vote.

Laura Fine trails in third with 10%, and all other candidates receive 6% or less of the vote.

As Trump ramps up his ICE raids in Charlotte, North Carolina, more than 30,000 students across the county reportedly did not attend school on Monday.

This isn't about going after the “worst of the worst.”

It was always about cruelty.

Novelized versions of history also merit attention, such as Michel Ragon's "La memoire des vaincus" (the Book of the Vanquished), a history of anarcho-syndicalism in the 20th century:

Yesterday, President Trump tried to justify the murder of Jamal Khashoggi by saying "things happen."

Today, Senate Republicans blocked a resolution that condemned his murder.

Not only that: In his answer to a press question about MBS's having ordered the murder and dismembering of a journalist he came pretty close to excusing it by saying the journalist was 'controversial'.
Last night’s lavish White House dinner showed us the global oligarchy coming together in plain sight.

By cozying up to MBS, Trump has signaled to the world that the United States is now on the side of authoritarianism, not democracy.

At the least.
Covering Jamal Khashoggi's murder was one of the most disturbing things I've worked on. Hearing Trump say he was "extremely controversial" and people "didn't like him" is chilling. Hard to take any other way than he thinks there is moral ambiguity in the murder of a journalist.

What ageism!!! And ignorance. My headline would sub "Joyce Carol Oates humiliates" for the first four words.

To add to my previous reply to @joycecaroloates.bsky.social as I'm just learning of the 'uneducated' appraisal: It's also because JCO is a doyen of education that he's humiliated. I'd add that he is also uneducated in the French sense of the word: Badly brought up.
