my ideal response to AI and crypto is a lot closer to an air strike than a bailout
“It’s not that I’m for austerity, it’s just that I’m against bailing out AI, crypto, private assets/university endowments, and I’m fine with canceled Thanksgiving flights and missed paychecks as long as Republicans take the blame for it.”

I am getting so sick of twitter. More and more I am getting nothing but short video content.

If I wanted to be on TikTok I'd already be on TikTok

One ship, $417m in tariffs.

The OOCL Violet docked in Long Beach on April 24 and is one of the first ships to arrive from China since 145% tariffs went into effect.

Spectacular data viz by my @bloomberg.com colleague @andretartar.bsky.social and team.

"Moderate" or "centrist" are vague, ambiguous terms.

They can cover any number of beliefs but are typically used by people who either don't care enough to pay attention or those who are deliberately trying to mask their beliefs behind what appears to be a reasonable position.

The institutional Democratic Party is guided by an almost pathological level of conflict avoidance in almost every direction. “What can we do to make the least number of people mad?” is just a bankrupt way to operate.

the tailoring of trade retaliation to hit red states hardest is honestly not a wrinkle i saw coming. certainly won't make nativism decline, but i get it.

“Will pay any amount.”

Feels like one of those futile pleas we’re going to hear from wealthy people more and more in the era of climate change.

there is nothing that makes me stop listening to someone faster than using snarky nicknames when referring to dangerous oligarchs. you're not funny or smart for calling him "elongated muskrat". please stop.
I can’t do the nicknames. It’s so cringey. I don’t know how people can convince themselves that the richest most powerful people in the world would be hurt in the slightest by being called Elmo or Drumpf. They’re people who can literally murder countries.

Me: I followed a bunch of climate scientists, journalists, podcasters, and comedians. Can you show me stuff like that?

Algorithm: Furries and half naked men. Got it.
Algorithm: hey you like Marvel memes and stuff right

Me: not really no

Algo: so just celebs?

Me: don't wish em harm but not fussed with their lives

Algo: that leaves shock documentations of disfiguring injury and disease

Me: I do follow my friends online

Algo: you'll see them occasionally
