He was my GGGG grandfather.
I’ve tried to follow the many of the places in Alberta and Manitoba … places he wrote about in his diaries. I was at Ft. Dauphin this past summer.
On this day in 1822, Peter Fidler died. Born in 1769, he spent his career with the Hudson's Bay Company and explored much of Western Canada.

From 1920-1943 J.R.R. TOLKIEN’s children received letters from Father Christmas replete with tales, illustrations & a North Pole stamp designed by Tolkien.

Published posthumously in 1976, ‘The Father Christmas Letters’ remain a testament to Tolkien’s love for his children.

The Goblin cave drawings and Goblin alphabet that Tolkien created for one of his Father Christmas's letters for his children.

Both were drawn in 1932 when he was working on "The Hobbit", and some of the creatures from that manuscript bled to his Christmas letters.

We remember the Holodomor as both a profound tragedy and a warning about where hatred and dehumanization can lead. Ukrainian families carried this truth across generations with courage. Today we honour their strength, uphold their memory, and recommit to defending human rights everywhere.
