Our hearts are heavy after the explosion at Clairton Coke Works yesterday, which took the lives of two workers and injured ten more, including medics.

This is a big deal. Call your Senator TODAY and tell them to vote NO on SJR 31 - a Congressional Review Act that would permanently strip the Clean Air Act of its ability to report and regulate industries most toxic chemicals like mercury, lead, and benzene. Now is our best chance to stop it!
“My name is ______, and I’m calling Senator ______ to urge them to vote NO on SJR 31, which would strip the Clean Air Act of landmark environmental protections that have kept Americans like my family safe for decades. If passed, this CRA would strip the reporting and regulating of industry’s most toxic pollutants, including lead, mercury, arsenic, benzene, and metals, which are known to cause cancer, birth defects, and other serious illness. As if that weren’t dangerous enough, the passage of this CRA would also prevent the US EPA from ever writing similar air protections in the future - a decision that would have disastrous health impacts for generations to come. This is nothing short of a life-threatening piece of legislation, and I urge you to do everything you can to put a stop to it immediately before more lives are lost to preventable toxic pollution. Thank you for you for giving this your most urgent attention.”
