Over 10,000 killed within three days.

Pools of blood around a hospital so large they could be seen from space.

An absolute nightmare.
“Individuals on the ground sent a message that reached us Monday morning that 1,200 were dead,” Nathaniel Raymond, the lab’s executive director, said. “By that evening, they said 10,000. By Tuesday, we couldn’t reach them anymore. We assume our ground contacts are dead.”

Texas is preparing emergency resources for wildfires and floods. The Texas National Guard should be THERE — not in Illinois.

We stand ready to support their return home so they are best positioned for helping Texans respond to any natural disasters.

People have always been able to have others read their statement, and this wouldn't be the first time a family wrote the statement as if the deceased were speaking. The "deepfake" video is the only new part here. As long as people know how it's made, doesn't seem like a problem.

President Trump’s simpering fealty to Vladimir Putin and Russia is embarrassing and dangerous.

Illinois stands with Ukraine, and so should the White House.

You really cannot ask for better rallying optics than the mother with her newborn flying across the country and a man dragging himself from his hospital bed. We asked for a united front. We got it. We asked for theatrics. We got it. We asked for country above self. We got it. This is what we want.
The reason I say you should "take the W" of the Dems doing what you call for is because that's how you build power and morale, and get the crowds you need to keep doing the pushing. When you spread false narratives, you're only corroding the support structures needed to keep going.

Yes, there are lots of negatives around the Pete Hegseth nomination -- the rampant alcoholism, the allegations of sexual assault, the hush money payment to an accuser, the total incompetence leading non-profits, and so on.

But ask yourself:

Does all that outweigh the total lack of positives?

the clear sign that they just don’t see these kids as real people is the endless concern over hypotheticals and the indifference to the reality that actual children are more likely to kill themselves because of these bans
Kavanaugh also brings up "detransitioners," people who "regret" their decision to transition genders. Like Alito, he cites European countries that are "pulling back" from gender-affirming care for minors, saying it's a "yellow light" or "red light" for the court that Europe is "pumping the brakes."

Yes. Whatever you think of Joe Biden's decision, he simply shouldn't have had the option.
Here are my thoughts from 2020 on why the pardon power is totally broken and warrants a constitutional amendment to fix it. Other advanced democracies don’t tolerate letting presidents pardon family members or political allies and we shouldn’t either. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...
Opinion | Want to repair U.S. democracy? Start by reforming the president’s power to pardon.
The new president should push for constitutional reform to limit his own power in a key area.

Between April 2023 and August 2024, more than 24.8 million people were kicked off Medicaid. Some of them were no longer eligible. But in an eye-watering 70% of cases, there was no explanation.

During the acute phase of the pandemic, it was easy to get on—and stay on—Medicaid. But then the “unwinding” began.
