I thought Salomonsson showed a lot of promise in his four NHL games. I liked his outlet passing, battle level, shoulder checks -- it looked like he had a good sense of the most dangerous threats.
He also spent a lot of time in his own zone. Overestimated the amount of time he had a couple of times.

With all due respect to Murat and others, framing the Jets getting Samberg (1) not on a long term deal and (2) on a deal that expires the same year as Morrissey, as anything less than a catastrophic organizational failure, especially in the wake of the Pionk deal to contrast it to, is the wrong take

Because they used that cap space so well last year
The #NHLJets now project to have about $3.9 million in cap space remaining with a 23-player roster. That gives them wiggle room to handle in-season injuries without needing LTIR - Adam Lowry to start year for example - and be able to accrue a much bigger number for deadline adds.

I for one am very surprised that the organization that continues to honour a wife-beating Nazi by having his number retired in the rafters would do such a thing.
Toews was /the/ captain when Kyle Beach was sexually abused by Brad Aldrich, and too many others in leadership positions (including Cheveldayoff) saw it as a distraction. Toews comments on this with regards to Quenneville, Bowman, and MacIsaac are… uncomfortable, at the very least.

To clear things up, when the NHL publishes the ruling it will say something like “we decided it was not a deflection but that Hellebuyck delivered sufficient force onto the puck that it was considered him shooting it into his own net”
