This is another angle. Beyond ideology, a huge motivation behind ALL of this is that sensationalism sells.

Drama sells. Reality TV sells. EXTREMISM SELLS.

In a mutated capitalism that values money first, it can be surprisingly a-moral to fascism, so long as fascism makes them a couple more bucks.

Trump seems determined to take a blow torch to alliances and partnerships around the world that a couple dozen of his predecessors painstakingly established over a century of war and diplomacy, which pleases nobody on planet earth more than his friend Vladimir Putin.

I am late and others have already shared, but this is a good reminder that fundamental principles and ideals of human rights matter - it is who we are and we need to become better at it.
