Trump is doing everything Putin wants him to do: abandoning our nation’s core values, attacking longtime allies, and picking Tulsi Gabbard for a critical national intelligence role. Putin has us right where he wants us, with his puppet as our President.

America first?

The most common question I receive is how everyday citizens can help in the fight for democracy. My advice, take the first step, start with something small and see what works for you. Here are ten things all of us can do. www.democracydocket.com/opinion/10-t...

Ahh, policing to hit the numbers for the politicians. Wasn't this season three of The Wire?
It’s really important to understand how quotas bend the practice of street level organizations around those targets (depending, of course, on the incentive/accountability structure that is attached to those quotas).

Expect as much enthusiasm in juking the stats as in increasing arrests.
Perfect: Trump is angry that deportation numbers aren't high enough, so he's demanding higher numbers of daily arrests, WaPo reports. But that's going to require rounding up non-criminals.

Confirms what I tried to argue below: Manufacturing a perpetual emergency constantly requires new enemies.

This is 67 cases--a tiny fraction of TB's global burden, which exceeds 10,000,000 active cases per year.

But the longer we allow a curable illness to infect and kill millions, the more TB we'll see in the U.S. Tuberculosis is an airborne disease, and TB anywhere is a threat to humans everywhere.

As we continue to analyze what went wrong in November, it's important to acknowledge that the political media landscape has shifted from TV to digital. In a guest piece for The Big Picture, writer Tristan Snell offered ideas for how Democratic campaigns can succeed in this new media environment.

This is another angle. Beyond ideology, a huge motivation behind ALL of this is that sensationalism sells.

Drama sells. Reality TV sells. EXTREMISM SELLS.

In a mutated capitalism that values money first, it can be surprisingly a-moral to fascism, so long as fascism makes them a couple more bucks.

Trump seems determined to take a blow torch to alliances and partnerships around the world that a couple dozen of his predecessors painstakingly established over a century of war and diplomacy, which pleases nobody on planet earth more than his friend Vladimir Putin.

UPDATE: Here's an updated version of my recent column that corrects an erroneous photo caption and a refocus AG pick Pam Bondi toward the election lies she told at Philly news conferences and on Fox News in 2020. Earlier posts with the error have been deleted www.inquirer.com/opinion/pam-...
Pam Bondi’s road from Four Seasons Total Landscaping to AG pick should alarm America | Will Bunch
She's not a sex fiend like Matt Gaetz, but Trump's second pick for attorney general is arguably more capable of carrying out his autocratic revenge agenda.

Brendan Carr, Trump's FCC chair pick, is signaling his intention to punish broadcasters that the incoming administration believes has been unfair to them.

He's doing something else here, too: he's discouraging broadcasters from critically covering Trump moving forward.

Dodge v. Ford Motor company (1918) creates the shareholder supremacy doctrine. (In short) All decisions by a corporation with public shareholders must favor shareholder interests (profits). After 100 years this doctrine has “forced” corps to eat our society alive and will lead to a collapse.
