A New York appeals court restored the state’s Voting Rights Act, which grants voters additional protections not covered by federal law. The judges concluded that a lower court had no authority to strike down the entire NYVRA.

So today is Shirley Chisholm’s 100th birthday!!!! She was an icon! My mentor was a volunteer for her, so I got to hear so many stories. We need to channel her energy today, because if we want change, we have to make it! That may make some uncomfortable, but oh well! The end result will be beautiful!
