you're already seeing & will see more stories about how various attempts at reducing energy use "aren't working," etc -- those are propaganda. this is fantastic

Huge historic turning point — Renewables surpassed coal as the world’s leading electricity source for the first half of 2025!

yeah man this "throw trans people to the wolves to appeal to moderate Republicans who surely, SURELY exist outside of the hearts and minds of Dem strategists who've been chasing that November 1992 high for over 30 years" plan sure worked great in 2024 we'd better stick to it

Gonna laminate this skeet and send it to all my friends 🖤🖤🖤🥰 Put "the horniest thing I've ever read - The Evan Dorkin" on my tombstone!!!

So, MOONFLOW by @bitterkarella.bsky.social was fucking wild: a sopping wet nightmare, a psychadelic psilocybin trip, a folk horror splatterfest spurting blood and other bodily fluids. Funny, sad, creepy and crazy. A contact high on nearly every page and probably the horniest thing I've ever read.(1)
A complimentary copy of the new book Moonflow by author Bitter Karella that I was sent. I finished the book last night, it's an extremely wild and trippy horror fantasy that I enjoyed very much.

I don't approve of it as a whole but I do appreciate that the premise of Robocop 2 is that the soulless corporation is so pleased by the success of Robocop that they're gonna do another one, even when it immediately becomes obvious that the first Robocop was a anomaly that never should have worked

Back in ye ol' Tumblr days, I was posting Art Adams art like it was my job. Eventually, he heard about it and he and Joyce started sending me commissions and other pieces he thought I might enjoy posting. I just found the folder. wow.

As a fun reminder, the paper to come out with the first hard evidence that an asteroid killed the dinosaurs didn't come until 1980 *and* the Chicxulub crater wasn't officially identified as the source until 1990 (despite its discovery in 1978).

and Mister Birchum of course

hell, even some leftists will default to treating white farmers as the real proletariat because truck (never mind whether they're millionaires even if the farm isn't a tax shelter for their real job) while retail workers and waiters are suspicious at best

the left getting football in the national divorce is still so weird
phillyinsomniac.bsky.social
the assumption that conservative white people are the default is a pretty deeply entrenched one, even in several left-liberal circles

they don't think of women as wanting a robot, they think women want a status symbol who will buy them stuff

see the list; it's a whole worldview that assumes women won't date them because they fail to meet this ideal standard

Do you remember those times you thought were 'better'? Do you have priorities set trying to get back to them? 🏡

Eisner-and-Ignatz-nominated Rigsby WI Vol. 2: Burn it Down is a ❤️PROJECT WE LOVE❤️ on Kickstarter!
www.kickstarter.com/projects/iro...
This is one of the few full color pages of Burn It Down, and yet it is a memory of Anna's of coming home on her bike to the car windshield having a large hole like a rock jumped up from the road.

But the hood also has a huge dent. She opens the door to the house. "Mom? What happened to the car?" There's no answer. "Mom? ...Anthony? Are you home?" There's still no answer. She does however find her mother in the kitchen. Her mother's face is shielded from the last panel, but her hunched posture holding her arms gives away more than words need. "... Mom?"

Do you remember the world before social media? Yeah it still sucked in its own way. Burn It Down is more than 50% of the way funded! You can help bring this to goal and get the first volume as well in physical form for just $30! We're also almost to 300 backers so far!
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ironspike/rigsby-wi-volume-2-burn-it-down-by-se-case?ref=2r89es "Hey! Asshole!" Anna calls out to Frank, who surprisingly stops and listens with a furrowed brow as she makes demands. "You're doing this project with me and if you don't show your ass up to the library every day I will find out where you live and burn your house down." she says the last part with emphasis but Frank doesn't seem really affected.

"Ok, wow. Seems a little agressetory. You need a cig or something?" he's more surprised at her energy about it.

"Fuck you! I am not getting a C because of you!"

"A C?" He makes a fake concerned expression. "Oh no, how horrible!" Then he drops it as he turns to head out. "I got better things to do than sit in a fuckin' book prison all afternoon."

@bretdevereaux.bsky.social has talked a few times about how consistently history students seem to identify with, even if not kings, knights and patricians and Spartiates rather with the slaves, serfs, or even modest freeholding farmers, even if their own ancestry is entirely working-class

I've seen someone run through the estimates & while I can't remember the exact numbers the conclusion was that the majority of human beings who have ever lived - by a lot! - were farm workers

I had appendicitis in... middle school? elementary? summer between the two?

point is I live in the remarkably short period of human history where that meant a routine surgery rather than my intestines exploding and leaking pus and feces into my abdomen until I succumb to infection

also "the George W Bush treatment" should have been getting arrested but that's a whole other thing
