A mother orca, known as Tahlequah or J35, has been seen carrying the carcass of her calf, just as she did in 2018 — when she spent 17 days carrying another dead calf. “It’s so much harder to see now that she has lost another one,” one scientist said.

Researchers say that the killer whale’s newborn calf in Puget Sound has also died and she’s unable to let go.

This fox at Richmond station last night just didn't care about all the people.

This is why I nearly always have my camera with me.

Never ever have I ever...
Going viral is sort of like staring directly at the sun in that the more you do it, the easier it gets but to your extreme detriment
I went bluesky level viral today (nearly 20k likes) and I genuinely do not understand how anyone ever went twitter level viral without losing their entire minds

though I rather suspect the answer is that many of them did

It's been over a year since I opened this account. I had found it more challenging than twitter to engage and had stayed over there. I might give this another shot.

I think Bluesky will see more Twitters jump ship over here. E.M. is tightening the chains a little more.

Thanks to the unkept paths/uneven and obstructed path, I ended up with a moon boot. It has been an interesting journey from a patient perspective. One that is reflective on how tight the services run and how improvements can be made (if they can).

If you want there to be F&SF fiction mags, we need to do something now, while Amazon is removing their support. Check out one mag's website today and support them, if you have the means. Or just RT this if you can't, because the situation is pretty dire.

I've been using Duolingo to learn a language. I've enjoyed doing so, until it changed, continuously remodelling the 'learning trees' and now making it only enjoyable to make good progress if you pay. I figure, if I'm going to pay, I'll try an app that does better teaching. Any thoughts on Babel?

I'm still trying to work out which avatar, best represents me. I'm a little stuck at the moment. Bare with...bare with my friends, or soon to be friends (is that a little forward?)

My lifestyle is usually busy with work, a lot in weekends & nights (health wk). Consequently, it becomes challenging to keep up with non-shift working friends in real-life.So, there's deep appreciation for invites & efforts made by non-shift work friends. Even if I can't go, the invite means a lot.

Today is day of the lakes for me. I‘m always in for lakes. There is a difference in how lakes are situated in alpine regions or in the coastal regions but both regions are beautiful. So make an impression yourself.
