Not actually "ready" yet, just testing to make sure I have the colours right for the glow effect to make it look like there's a dot-matrix LED display in this thing. ;)

All this work on a new model and tool just to rotate textures on walls and floors and stuff. :P

I thought about incorporating texture rotation into the Creation Tool in Project AB, but there's a number of reasons why it made more sense to put that functionality into a separate tool. :B

You know you're doing a good job when your gamedev work makes you think of candy. :3 (Screenshot is from an earlier game I was working on but am not presently pursuing.)

And now that my galaxy shader is as good as it's gonna get, I went through and made as many distinct colour variations of it as I could, twelve in total! :D

They all have proper space-themed names too like "Astro Red" and "Tacyhon Pink" to spoil just a couple of them. ;)

I mean LOOK AT THIS...

...and a still image does not do this shader justice. The centre part stays in the middle as you move around the object and the stars rotate around both the inner AND outer edges, AND this is done in a single pass without touching the slow transparent rendering pipeline! :)

One of the hardest things I've had to wrangle is what I've referred to internally as "IRays" and the "EditBox". The "EditBox" is the box that shows up around things so you can edit them. "IRays" are a kind of multi-raycast to figure out what the player intends to be pointing at.

So far so good...

...this is definitely the most cursed reaction possible... >;)

FINALLY finding some time to get back to work on Project AB after the rush of getting ADG finished for the year. This is where I'm at now: Implementing logic! :D

This took a LOT of thought to make it so simple a non-programmer could handle it, while also allowing for some deep complexities. :B
November 17, 2025 at 2:25 AM
So... no one's commented on this yet but I wonder how many people spotted this blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment in the previous ADG video? ;)

Ironically: While DVDs are still heavily region locked, legit BluRays are FREQUENTLY sold as region free. Just look at my dual DVD+BluRay copy of Tron Legacy: Region "1" DVD on the Left, Region Free "ABC" BluRay on the right! ;)

...did I ever post a screenshot of the Psi-Gloves in my game doing their thing? I think I forgot to do that, so here you go! :D

Also pictured: A yellow, spinning thing. Can't have a physics-based game without spinning things! ;)

...the result...

...not perfect, but I'll take WAY less sun in my shadows over a supernova! ;)

Clamping the values a little above 1.0 also solved a secondary problem I was having due to how HDR radiance is cube-mapped for the reflections, resulting in "fireflies" which disappeared following! :D
September 17, 2025 at 8:49 AM
To put it simply... the sun shows up in my shadows now. >:(

NOTHING I have tried has solved this. This was not a problem back in 4.4.

Cobblestones are the staple of any good game where you can make your own world, including mine! ;)

My materials are categorized though in my game; I put this one in the "Medieval" category, as a number of the pre-made worlds will have a castle theme. :B
September 12, 2025 at 6:43 PM
BTW: Just a fun little aside: This little snippet is the earliest mention of the name "Nixy" from my own gamedev documents, with the document this came from being dated the 1st of June, 2006! :o

This was for a platforming game idea, thus why there's stats like movement speeds and actions. :B

So I just spent nearly two hours trying to tackle the problem of making Psi-Gloves outlines look good around complex shapes like the Creation Tool here... only to realize that the 2-minute solution of using a sphere and stretching/squishing it into an appropriate shape looks way better. :P

"So... how's it feel to be strapped into a walking nuke reactor at 6 AM?" ;)

Also, finally hit 24,000 subscribers! :)

The number still goes up VERY slowly, but hey, I'll take having a mostly competent and pleasant comments section on all of my videos over a high subscriber count any day! :B

Over a 130 hours of gameplay... and yet...
EVERY
TIME
I PLAY
UNDERTALE
...I find something I never knew about! :O

This time around, it's that if you wait long enough after placing the umbrella here, the music tune to play is just flat-out revealed! (I always just went by the sound.)

Last one for now, just to show that as my skills improved, so did the boundaries of my ideas. This conceptshot isn't finished as I never pursued this idea to any great degree, (it a lasers + mirrors game), but it's one of the most complete conceptshots I have which is also in 3D! :B
August 7, 2025 at 12:56 PM
Although here's a conceptshot for PixelShips Retro... Yes, this is NOT a screenshot from the finished game, this conceptshot existed before there even WAS a game! The only big difference between the two are the cloud effects which are much nicer in the actual game! ;)
August 7, 2025 at 12:50 PM
This is the 2nd-oldest "conceptshot" of mine in my archives... This one never became an actual game (99% of them never did) but I remember the idea behind this one was that mini bosses and bosses would be frequent and could be controlled by a second player! :B
August 7, 2025 at 12:40 PM
Was looking through my gamedev archives and was curious about something and through a combination of filenames and dates determined THIS was my first ever "Conceptshot" as I would call them: Conceptual Screenshots I would draw by hand of my game ideas, with this one being from August of 1998! :o

If this starts happening on YouTube remember that you can report ads by clicking on the little circle next to the "Sponsored" text!

Beyond that, as a creator on YouTube I can set which ad categories are allowed/blocked on my channel; I've already turned off all government/security related ads. :P

So, I knew The Fortress of Dr. Radiaki was up on Steam, but what I didn't know and was just informed of is that my review of the game is quoted in the listing! ;D
