So much social media has come and gone since the internet became a thing... ICQ was my social playground early on, as were a myriad of forums for the various things I was into, most of which are gone by this point or barely utilized anymore. :/

For an inverted example, take Overload. It was made by the guys who made Descent 1 through 3 and even though they lacked the licenses to use the Descent name and ships and characters and everything, if FEELS like Descent 4 because of the artistry, the gameplay, etc. :B

The Klonoa games were hit hardest by the people doing re-releases being completely unfamiliar with the artistic aspects of the original, and in so doing, the story presented in those games actually misses the mark. It's the same dialogue, but every subtlety to give context is missing. :(

In the original Dreamcast release of Sonic Adventure, there's a moment where Tails is remembering following Sonic and in so doing, passes through a piece of tall grass at the end which rustles.

In every re-release of the game, that tall grass isn't there. :/

It's nuts just how many things I've had to do to make it super-easy for players to make their own worlds out of building blocks which can be reshaped, resized, recoloured, retextured, etc.

A voxel-world like Minecraft would've been simpler, but... I feel this fits the vision of the game better. :)

All you do is point this tool at a surface on a set piece which supports texture rotations and then a light shows up to indicate whether you're rotating the top, bottom, north, south, east, west, or angled textures, then you push the trigger and those surfaces do a 90-degree texture rotation.

One of the strangest stereotypes I've noticed, having used the bathrooms in so many different people's houses over the years: There is an inverse relationship between how wealthy someone is and the quality of the toilet paper they buy. >_>;

At this point it's just disappointing and depressing how many people who have risen to positions of notoriety have really bad takes on life. :(

Probably. The main reason I don't use Discord is simply because having myself set up on Discord is not something I have time to manage or moderate. :P

Still, five accounts hacked in seven days, none of whom were related, all of which I found out about here or on Steam... geeze... >_<

To that end, they stick around for people who prefer their lower-cost WordPerfect or Paint Shop Pro packages, which still follow the old pricing model of pay-per-major-version with a discount for upgrading from previous versions, as opposed to a subscription model.

WordPerfect was bought out by Corel at one point, and yeah, Corel never really disappeared, they just got overshadowed something fierce by Microsoft and Adobe, BUT, because Corel is a privately owned company, they don't need constantly increasing profits to stay in the game. ;)

To be fair, since the turn of the millennium you really only need the paid stuff if you need the more business-centric features found in them, otherwise yeah, free word processing software will suit you just fine. :B

I knew they predated EMM386 but was mostly wondering how they remained relevant following. Like, one of the products on your shelf there states that it's for Windows 95 and I'm just sitting here thinking "Why would that even be necessary?" :o
January 5, 2026 at 10:34 PM
That's something that's always confused me: Given the prevalence of EMM386 included with later versions of MS-DOS, just how important/relevant were these things?

The first time I ever witnessed you online was your Athena race with Dragondarch at AGDQ2018 and let me tell you, I was absolutely crying by the end of it...

...because I simply could NOT stop laughing! XD
