I bought this monster - vol 1 of the two vol Claremont/Hillsdale story of Western Civilisation - the civilisation that JD Vance thinks Europe / UK has given up on and which is now left to MAGA guardian. All nonsense but the story is still interesting and the book is handsomely produced

Finally arrived - thanks Amazon for leaving it in a puddle! A momentous achievement appreciated even by some political theorists! It remains for me a shame that @lsegovernment.bsky.social had no part in this. Maybe one day we will change. In the meantime a mine of insight and wisdom.

Reposting this as US publication date is tomorrow @politybooks.bsky.social @lsegovernment.bsky.social - it is increasingly important to understand Postliberalism given its place in US and UK politics but it’s also important to understand how it might be challenged…

Just picked up @lkatfield.bsky.social Furious Minds at Munro’s in Victoria BC. Already loving it. A great supplement to recent books on Post-liberalism books such as Kelly and Sleat @politybooks.bsky.social This is a fine genealogy of the US right but has implications for us over the pond Atlantic

There are two distinct but related stories behind the book. The first began with the rise of Blue Labour and its search for a new political economy following the Brown Gov defeat in 2010. What started as a left discourse with Cruddas, Rutherford, Pabst and Glasman, quickly turned right under Glasman

Doing some prep for the discussion below and reading Stephen Wolfe’s The Case for Christian Nationalism. All I can say is Wow - Rousseau would have approved… (Wolfe is one of the influences on J D Vance, though definitely not Catholic, instead a curious Protestant Integralist; it’s a thing!)
