Finally arrived - thanks Amazon for leaving it in a puddle! A momentous achievement appreciated even by some political theorists! It remains for me a shame that @lsegovernment.bsky.social had no part in this. Maybe one day we will change. In the meantime a mine of insight and wisdom.

Flying back to UK from Canada and the on board flight map uses a non-Mercator projection for Greenland. It’s not tiny but it’s probably way smaller than Trump thinks - someone is going to have a lot of explaining to do…

The statement of the three US Catholic cardinals of yesterday about Trump Venezuela Greenlands etc. is historically important because the oppositional space is not a natural space for the US Catholic episcopate, especially when it comes to foreign policy and national security.

I think a good strategy for your non-leftist social media presence (ie everywhere but here) is to give this photo - the remains of Danish soldiers returning in coffins after being killed in America's war in Afghanistan - as wide an audience as possible. Remind people who we're betraying

I'm good thanks. I think I probably won't move to the country where the authorities pump out neo-Nazi memes and masked militias roam the streets.
The Trump administration has discussed offering asylum to Britain’s Jewish population, a lawyer for the president has said.

Robert Garson, Trump’s personal lawyer, said that the UK was “no longer a safe place for Jews” ⬇️

I find it troubling but also immensely funny that so many of those behind the implosion of the US right are inspired by Carl Schmitt - who loathed the US and saw it’s rise as a thread to western civilisation…

Jenrick’s career may be washed up in the long run but in the meantime he’s going to pop up on BBC Question Time once a month - all for Balance at the Corporation…

Reposting this as US publication date is tomorrow @politybooks.bsky.social @lsegovernment.bsky.social - it is increasingly important to understand Postliberalism given its place in US and UK politics but it’s also important to understand how it might be challenged…

Reading @lkatfield.bsky.social Furious Minds and one stand out fact is how many of the cast are PhDs from top US schools- indeed she deliberately confines her attention to the Drs as opposed to kids and non grad school figures. It casts the anti University rhetoric / policy in a clear light…

It would be good to see UK HE withdrawing from X/twitter. There really is no need to be there - plenty of other platforms that many already use, and it would send a signal. Perhaps @lseblogs.bsky.social @lsegovernment.bsky.social and other sites could take a lead …

Pretty clear that JD Vance’s posturing following the Good murder by ICE is a sign of someone fearing marginalisation by Rubio following the Venezuelan adventure. Any comments that keep him in the headlines will do the trick. As VP to Trump he has less profile than the already low profile role allows

Just picked up @lkatfield.bsky.social Furious Minds at Munro’s in Victoria BC. Already loving it. A great supplement to recent books on Post-liberalism books such as Kelly and Sleat @politybooks.bsky.social This is a fine genealogy of the US right but has implications for us over the pond Atlantic
