But they the BBC have Justin Webb to tell us this is what ordinary Americans want and it’s all really normal. It actually isn’t unless your experience of the US is only derived from X and Truth Social posts…👆👆👆

No - can’t do the essay length version but point is US domestic politics won’t change much until their is a coalition for change - we are not there yet. For the rest of us the US is no longer a reliable ally and that won’t change even if Trump is stuffed in the mid terms. US will not bounce back👆👆👆

I suspect the US Media may well surprise you - the weird ownership structure has made it immune to ordinary viewer/market forces. As for his team - not sure Wiles or Miller much care what happened at Davos…

He is not the ‘leader of the free world’ he is President of the United States, a very different thing for most of its history. The free world has no leader …(that’s kind of the point)

The colonists fought a war against a mad king only for the current GOP to impose a mad king. Is that really what all the Caesarist MAGA new right talking heads thought was needed - another mad king?

You have wonder why with all the ICE guys they haven’t surrounded the headquarters of Antifa and arrested its leadership and staff? Curious the press never ask Trump this question - why would that be…
January 21, 2026 at 1:57 AM
Probably not the reasons Trump wants it - but good reasons why he shouldn’t have it…

Writing something along these lines -not particularly original but hey - Lincoln! The best William F Buckley could come up with was Reagan which seems quaint today. Russel Kirk is laughable as is Scruton. The right is radical knows no limits and thinks racism is the answer… conservatism is doomed…

I suspect it will be more than a generation - there is no quick way back. The world has seen not just Trump but the whole US constitution fail epically.

The same has been true with Brexit supporters in the UK - it’s been frustrated by remainers so they were not wrong. That is starting to shift a little after 10 years but it hasn’t shifted votes that much. Any change in the US will take a decade at least and an appreciation of real decline..
