Changing most of my social handles to 'PKEBlip', for reasons. Still the same Xanny, though!
Every time it gets to 39 degrees or below outside, the Ecto pops up a warning:

"Ice may be present, drive with caution"

Multiple meanings in this day and age, and based on reports from the Atlanta area, it's true in multiple ways. Stay safe out there.

Grew up watching him on PBS when I was living in PA. RIP indeed.
Aw man 😞 Rest in peace Mr Cheifet, host of Computer Chronicles: obits.goldsteinsfuneral.com/stewart-chei...

What a legend. His work in both presenting and preserving the early days of computer history has been (and will continue to be) deeply appreciated! My condolences to his family and friends.

If you have a problem with trans women, trans men, or trans people of any make or gender, then you got a problem with me and I suggest you let that marinate

The looks I'm getting from some of these people in Waffle House is pretty hilarious. Yes I drive an Ecto. All the time. Judge all you want 😁

Successful backup test for my Proxmox VMs. Had to replace a drive and opted to do a fresh install and restore.

I'm not feeling very raptured right now.

Initial thumbnail thought: Huh, that's a pretty neat idea!

Post-video thought: Uh.. no thanks, especially at that price point.
Reviewing a bit of modern oddware on LGR!

I'm Back Film is a device that goes inside a 35mm camera and replaces the film, swapping it with a 20MP digital sensor. Is it worth $800 though? Let's set it up, test it with an old SLR, compare it to film, and see it it's worthwhile.

What started as "Oh, I'll just run a small mini PC to serve as a playground and a NAS for my photo storage" has turned into a full-blown homelab hobby. I'm going to do a write-up and a Youtube video as an official channel re-launch soon once my rack arrives.

Fuck SCOTUS, fuck Republicans, and a big fuck you to the Orange Asshole. If you're Republican and you're still somehow in contact with me, leave. I find out, I'm blocking you. You've brought all this bullshit upon the rest of us, and I don't want to hear "I didn't know they were going to do that."

BREAKING: The Supreme Court ruled Tennessee’s law banning gender-affirming medical care for transgender youth can remain in effect.

This is devastating for trans people and our families but doesn’t end our work against President Trump’s attacks on trans people and our health care.

I finished up Doom: The Dark Ages tonight while waiting on work stuff to finish up. It was okay. To me it felt very repetitive. I'm glad I played it, but I'm also glad I played via Game Pass vs. buying it at full price. I would have been disappointed more if that were the case.

Well, looks like I lost my 18 year old Reddit account. They locked it because of 'suspicious' activity. The suspicious activity? I had the audacity to browse via VPN. My support tickets have gone unanswered. Ah well, one less social media site to deal with. How dare I protect myself online. :D

I'm doing some prep work to bring back XannyTV, both the stream and the Youtube channel. Hope to get some content out there soon.

This isn't going to end well at all. I started my career as a COBOL programmer (in 1997) and there's no way they'll get this done in months. If they start dicking around with it, the SSA infrastructure is gonna go down.

DOGE Plans to Rebuild SSA Code Base in Months, Risking Benefits and System Collapse
Social Security systems contain tens of millions of lines of code written in COBOL, an archaic programming language. Safely rewriting that code would take years—DOGE wants it done in months.

After almost two freaking years, I now have in my hands signed divorce paperwork! Now to send it back to the attorney, have her file it and then in 31 days I'll finally be 100% free!

Ah the ole punch card. I encountered these in a production environment when I started my programming / engineer career in 1997. Blew me away, but that old Honeywell system just plugged away daily.
If you wondered where the 80 column standard came from on old computers, it was from the humble punch card. They typically stored 80 bytes per card.

Microsoft has changed their supported CPU list for the latest iteration of Windows 11, now making the 8th Gen laptop I have ineligible. Joke's on them, that thing's been running Linux since the day I bought it.

The idea of buying Greenland is insanity itself, but this name? Seriously? I need a DeLorean so I can go back where the timeline skewed and fix this.

Spent a good part of last week and the weekend down and out with a diverticulitis flare. They're few and far between but when they hit, oof, they hit. This one was one of the worst. Thankfully I woke up pain-free this morning and I think I'm coming out of it.

One thing I started to do from the get-go here on Bluesky (and I recommend you do as well), set up some lists! I've got one for people I know, one for wrestling, one for technology. It's nice and makes for keeping an eye on topics (and people of interest) easier.
