Does this bio make me look like a "bot"?...if you know me in real life you'll recognize me here.

I like listening to the smart kids talk

That face!
You know who isn't stressed out right now?

The 'snow monkeys' of Jigokudani Monkey Park in Nagano Prefecture, Japan.

They're wild Japanese macaques (Macaca fuscata) who live in the nearby hills, but winter in/around natural hot springs (onsen) in the park.

Thread of the posts I see responding to @governor.ca.gov promoting Ronald Reagan. Trying to capture all the appropriate criticism in one place.

Reagan was vile and no different than Republicans today. A hate filled racist willing to do anything to ensure rich white people remained on top.

ah, perhaps instead of pumping millions into endless factional infighting Dem donors could invest in making local Dem organizations genuine civic spaces that can reach people during and between elections

@trahan.house.gov I am your constituent and I agree with Congresswoman Jayapal.
Charlie Kirk’s death is a tragedy, and I condemn all political violence from wherever it comes.

House Republicans designed today’s resolution as a political “gotcha” — one that attempts to put words in my mouth to endorse Kirk’s views.

I cannot do that, so I voted “no.”

How long until they're claiming that the videos of him saying horrible things are AI generated?
This may explain why there’s an aggressive response to people who merely post Kirk’s own words. It threatens the existence of the alternate Kirk - the motivational speaker that had been marketed to young kids and white Christian groups through selective quotation & clips.

Surprisingly, there are no jokes about JD Vance in the replies. Baseball Bluesky must be different.

@msf.ca I agree. I want to support your work. Please do not send me trash in the mail.
If DWB/MSF wants to ensure that I not donate to them again, this is an excellent way to do it.

This. The orange one is…I dunno. Maybe like the fruiting body of the fungus?
The GOP must lose all the cultural and political battles it's fighting, or we will lose the country. The defeat of the GOP and repudiation of what it stands for is essential to the survival of the Republic.

I expect that consumer-facing AI programs will continue to improve and they may become much more useful tools for everyday life in the future.

But I think it was a disastrous mistake that today’s models were taught to be convincing before they were taught to be right.

Also pretty delightful for the lurkers
the fun version of this is when you’re posting about some nerd shit and someone pops up in the comments like “actually I am a world renowned expert in this field and here’s how this works”

easily the best thing that happens on social media
One of the best things about Posting is you never know what obscure preoccupations your followers have. There will be a guy who has followed you for years and never said anything but then one day you disparage applesauce and he activates like a sleeper agent and dedicates his life to destroying you

this is such good news. i think it is also an opportunity for democrats to state forthrightly that when they win power again everyone responsible for this crime will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law and will face the american people to answer for their lawlessness
I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.

Even if you (wrongly) believe that some immigrants lack due process rights, what’s to stop the government from claiming that *you* are an undocumented immigrant; removing you to El Salvador; citing an “administrative error”; and refusing to do anything to bring you back?

The answer is due process.

And make sure they know they will never eat a spit-free restaurant meal again.
Every day should be like this for all of them. ALL OF THEM. ALL THE TIME. EVERYWHERE THEY GO. They shouldn't be able to go out to eat, to relax, to vacation, to shop, without someone making a noise.
Fox News reported that JD Vance had to move to an “undisclosed location” due to protests at the Vermont resort where he’s skiing this weekend. For inflicting misery on the world and here at home in America, this is exactly the energy that should greet Vance wherever he goes for the rest of his days.
