📢 We're Now Accepting Commentaries
These are short discussion on current topics involving computational algorithms, software, models, frameworks, engines, languages and other tools that advance plant sciences.

Publishing is free, but please reach out with a pre-submission inquiry. #PlantScience
A megaphone with a speech bubble. The text inside the bubble is: now accepting commentaries. Share your thoughts on trending or controversial topics related to computational algorithms, software, tools, and machine learning that advance plant science. The image includes the in silico Plants logo.

Our @elife.bsky.social Version of Record is now out 🎉 : elifesciences.org/articles/105...

Congratulations to @sohambio.bsky.social , @asimjaved.bsky.social , and @jiaxuwu.bsky.social on this beautiful work. We also wrote an easy-to-read eLife Digest for a general audience 👏

Kudos to our journal clients who are (for now) using our post-acceptance editing services to make sure that authors have uploaded their data to the relevant repositories. #SciComm

My personal favorite is "data are available upon reasonable request".
philipncohen.com
"Among articles stating that data was available upon request, only 17% shared data upon request." (Or: you keep saying these words. I do not think they mean what you think they mean)

🌽 Maize vs. Fusarium 🌽

Overexpressing a maize lipoxygenase (ZmLOX4) boosts resistance to Fusarium infection.

Glad that our maize Gene editing & transformation platform, at @rdplab.bsky.social, contributed to this research, led by the Lanubile's Lab.

Releasing a complete package in microbes, bacterial, phages, metagenome, plant bioinformatics and humans in this. Optimizing this with the Keras and PyTorch and adding RELU based estimates so that a mismatch kmer can be predicted and filled.

@holtjma.bsky.social this is so good. I read the code and thought if implementing a mis-matched kmer approach to train these varisnts for prediction. See a demo code i wrote using XgBoost. I am now writing in C++ and R also for a package on the same. Just finished the same.

📖 SPECIAL ISSUE REVIEW 📖

In this review, Wang et al. describe the protease, chaperone-like, and substrate processing working modes of plant FtsH, and summarize the role of FtsH in organelle protein homeostasis 🔄 🌱

🔗 doi.org/10.1093/jxb/...

#PlantScience 🧪
Box 1. Key developments in understanding FtsH functions for organelle protein homeostasis in Arabidopsis The schematic illustration shows the primary and 3D structure of FtsH (A–C) and highlights recent advances in understanding the roles of plant FtsHs localized in chloroplasts (D, E, and H) and mitochondria (F and G).
See paper for full description of Box 1.
