It has been an amazing experience to be President of @improvingpsych.org for the past year. There aren't many societies that would engage early career researchers in leadership, but SIPS is very special 🧡✨

..while a greater number of less adaptive strategies (i.e., rumination and suppression) predicting worse momentary affect.

Lastly, exploratory analyses revealed that quantity of strategies employed also matter when predicting momentary affect, with a greater number of adaptive strategies (i.e., distraction and reappraisal) predicting more positive momentary affect,...

We further tested momentary mental exhaustion and individual propensity to experience distress as moderators of strategy efficacy, and contrary to our hypotheses, reappraisal was more successful at higher levels of mental exhaustion to improve momentary affect.

As predicted, ruminating about stressful experiences predicted worse momentary affect, while none of the other assessed strategies (i.e., distraction, reappraisal, and suppression) were associated with momentary affect.

Grateful to have had such an amazing team on this- Pauline Goodson, Ariana Orvell, @dororeis.bsky.social , @malfrie.bsky.social , Bryan Denny!

Attended #FGSP2025 earlier this week, first ever conference outside of India! Extremely grateful to have gotten the opportunity to present and win 2nd place for this poster on the study I did with @mhennecke.bsky.social and Johannes Koopmann while I was still in India!
Pooja standing next to her FGSP poster, looking a bit unsure of how to pose. The poster is A0 size with light purple, blue and while color along with university logos at the top FGSP Poster prize certificate for 2nd place. Also comes with a chocolate and a pen! From left to right- Pooja, Marie, and Johannes posing next to the poster.

If you think your library or institution might be willing to become a supporting member of PsyArXiv, we would be very grateful if you can reach out to [email protected] [email protected], the PsyArXiv funding chair, will follow up and do the rest of the work :)

Also, some helpful context is that archiving pre-prints and creating DOIs costs $$$!

If you would like to help offset the cost of keeping this resource that you use running, but don't want to volunteer, another way to support is donating! Either personally or by getting your library involved!
