Last week, the UK Covid Inquiry showed children weren’t seen as a priority to protect. The toll is heartbreaking - lives lost, health harmed, futures changed. Yet SARS-2 is just one of many airborne hazards children face in schools.

The Covid vaccine rollout across Canada, but especially in Nova Scotia, is about administrative ease, not infection control, population health, or public health. We know there's an annual wave around September, yet nothing changes. Another year of failure.
popns.bsky.social
This is the only info we've seen so far 🫥
sujo.bsky.social
So, I don't know how reliable this is, but Mosaic Pharmacy posted on their instagram account that rollout will start October 15 and booking will be open October 9. This isn't anywhere on the NS Health site.

We do need to promote vaccination for kids and teens, but we also need to pressure governments everywhere to invest in clear air. Like many other viruses, COVID is airborne.

Periodic reminder that public health in Canada, provincially and Federally, was explicitly told about long COVID in 2020. They knew quite a lot. They received frequent high-quality info. And they said nothing to workers or the public.

I have to get up and start my day now so maybe I’ll continue this later, but in Nov 2022 we found out that PHAC and CADTH (now CDA) had been keeping a few hundred people total across every province and territory in Canada, including CMOHs, informed on LC since JULY 2020.

I’m glad the recommendations are unequivocal but vaccine rollouts by provinces are far too late. Many in my community have already fallen ill and nursing home outbreaks are well underway. Folks need Covid shots BEFORE schools start up each fall. #covidIsNotOver #CovidIsAirborne #CovidIsNotSeasonal

COVID-19 cases are still high, so be sure to know the facts and avoid the myths in order to protect yourself and others.
COVID-19 myths vs. facts. myth: If I’ve already had COVID-19 once, I’m immune from getting it again. Fact: There is no limit on how many times you can get COVID-19. Reinfection is common, and each new infection raises your risk of serious illness, organ damage, Long COVID, and more. COVID-19 myths vs. facts. myth: I won’t get COVID-19 as long as I wash my hands well. Fact: It’s always a good idea to wash your hands, but COVID-19 spreads primarily through the air and respiratory droplets, so handwashing is much less likely to prevent COVID-19 than wearing masks. COVID-19 myths vs. facts. myth: I don’t need to wear masks if I’ve already been vaccinated.Fact: Vaccines can reduce your risk of infection, and if you do get sick after being vaccinated, you are much less likely to experience severe illness or death, but it is still possible to get COVID-19 and spread it to others even if you’ve been vaccinated, so it’s a good idea to keep masking.

Let me be clear. As someone who has been professionally involved with the biodefense / biosecurity sector for nearly 20 years, and has worked on biological risk analysis for Covid-19 since early 2020, reducing one's risk of being infected is not health anxiety. It's just smart.

Nova Scotia has also greatly diminished the wastewater reporting. This was one of the last reliable indicators of Covid activity in the province.
ratnegative.bsky.social
Just as a new wave starts, the BCCDC / Metro Vancouver has reduced their wastewater monitoring to 8 stations (from 12), one time (from 3) per week, and updated every 2 (instead of 1) weeks.

THEY ARE HIDING THE EXTENT OF THE ONGOING PANDEMIC.

PROTEST IT.
Screenshot from https://bccdc.shinyapps.io/respiratory_wastewater/

"The wastewater surveillance program has implemented some new changes starting September 11, 2025:

1) The number of wastewater treatment plants tested has been changed to eight province wide, as opposed to previously twelve wastewater treatment plants.
2) There will now be one sample collected per wastewater treatment plant per week, as opposed to previously three samples per treatment plant per week.
3) Sequencing of wastewater samples will change from weekly to every two weeks."

I've said this before—we live in the world COVID built. Accepting "the vulnerable will fall by the wayside" let the wealthy learn they could sacrifice many easily.

Even in this surge, ppl won't mask to practice care. Trump started this, but Biden solidified and was a stopgap for entrenched fascism

By now, the COVID-19 pandemic should have shown us that we’re supposed to rise to the occasion by meeting needs, not fall in line behind fascist incursions. The same forces that encouraged us to sacrifice the disabled, poor, and unhoused to a distorted idea of “natural selection” now instruct us to ignore the genocide of Palestinians. The same forces that pushed conspiratorial misinformation about public health and vaccination want us to give up on practicing collectivity. It’s connected because if we cannot be relentless in our determination to interrupt what’s unfolding before us, then we risk it becoming a disturbing norm.

Sci fi / horror conventions are requiring masks in 2025 but disability related conferences continue to refuse to consider masks & some even refuse to have virtual options

If you refuse to accommodate #immunocompromised people, you’re not as “inclusive” / “accessible” as you think you are
