If you've been sighing and agreeing with @karenho.bsky.social's posts about how it's extremely goofy that we have to do laundry and run errands amid All This, you might like this thread.

I know you're pretty much all experiencing this too, but I was working through a check list of stuff I need to promote (in this Banned Books Week of 2025) & just thrown for a minute at the dissonance of needing to keep the gears moving during this whole series of crises we're living through..

Will A Vow in Vengeance be the next big thing in romantasy? Will it live up to all the glowing early reviews? Will you get a beautiful tarot-inspired tasseled bookmark if you preorder it from us? We don't know about the first two, but the third one is a definite yes!
A Vow in Vengeance by Jaclyn Rodriguez
Deadly tarot, wicked schemes, dangerous alliances . . . can you survive the Forge? Sexy, action-packed, and brimming with magic, A Vow in Vengeance is an unputdownable romantasy debut.

So where I've landed in this moment (and then back to the to do list!) is that we are trying to run the store so that keeping the gears moving IS the fight for a better world. Don't know if we're doing it, but we're trying. Thanks for your support!

just a series of attempts that have varying impacts on our community and our business. Some of those attempts will be visible to you, some won't, some will be more direct, others more about finding new ways to get great books to the readers who need them...

PSB spends a lot of time talking about how best to serve our community both generally & in this specific moment knowing that it doesn't matter a whole lot what we want to contribute if we can't pay bills. Also knowing that there isn't really an answer to that problem...

or a book about creating culture & community in the face of oppression here: portersquarebooks.com/book/9781964...

It just seems like your weekend would be best served by taking a stroll (however you define "stroll") to your local bookstore, browsing for a bit, & chatting with a bookseller about what you should read next.
