Twenty years ago spent great effort in rescuing a loved one from a cult. Social services and the courts were involved. I see how society has become brainwashed by social media. The similarities are stark except there will be no one to rescue us.

This is true.
Granted, it has something to do with the specific dietary needs of our family, but the biggest conclusion from just spending about a week in each is that it is infinitely easier to find delicious food in London than in Paris.

A spectacular Ghost Slug (Selenochlamys ysbryda) found by my daughter in N Cardiff - within a mile of the home of the late Bill Symondson who first described the species, along with Ben Rowson of @amgueddfacymru.bsky.social It is one of the few species with a Welsh scientific name (ysbryd = spirit)

I love this observation from William L Weir’s excellent book on the Radiophonic Workshop. A perfect demonstration of the subliminal effect of the ‘small things’. Weir goes on to explain how the Workshop harnessed this effect. Strong parallels with Perec’s idea of the ‘infra-ordinary’.

Lots of folks claiming Martin Parr captured the world 'as it really was' and was just documenting reality,.in order to defend his work from accusations of snobbery and exploitation.This implicitly exempts him from commonly understood systems of representation which is... a bit much.
