I see pieces like this a lot, often w/ a spin of lamenting cultural degeneration, but reading is a LABOR issue, it’s declined because so many people are working overtime or two jobs & employers expect after hours work. France has Earth’s highest reading rate b/c long lunch breaks & labor protections

Watching my students not working within the class time I give them for an assignment and knowing I will be embarrassing folks when I call on them and they have nothing to offer is not the thrill they might mistake it for. I HATE having to publicly shame students. But it’s an arrow in the quiver.

To make horror work best, try to hold pcs feet to the fire when it comes to consequences of their choices.
But,
More importantly, don't be capricious. You want players to be bold and take risks. An overly cautious table is a boring table in CoC.
Be tough but fair. Reward as much as punish.

Learning to run Call of Cthulhu for a horror oneshot this month.

Any of my TTRPG friends have any advice on running the system? So far all I remember is to expect character death or characters to lose all of their sanity.
