This is an amazing double feature. I’m not in L.A. but I own both films so maybe I’ll recreate it at home and you should do the same if you want to treat yourself. Start with THE LONG GOODBYE.

Look, I’ve never been to Japan but, come on, 19th century Japan was so ahead of its time that nobody has yet caught up to doing cool shit like this (as far as I know, at least).
A selection of beautiful firemen’s coats from 19th-century Japan. The coats were reversible — one side was plain and the other side (worn on the inside while tackling blazes) was decorated with rich and symbolic imagery: https://publicdomainreview.org/collection/japanese-firemans-coats-19th-century

A very important thread. When I was probably no more than 10, I saw this picture of the woman known as Harlow in the Philly Inquirer. A little babygay, I was shocked that such a glamour queen could live in my hometown and even more shocked to see her described as "a former man."

Just the other day I told my cutie that if someone films me with these stupid glasses that I would rip them off their face and break them. This person is my hero! Ray-Ban partnering with Meta makes me feel deep shame that their Clubmaster frames are the only glasses that stay on my dumb face.
In terms of what’s understood to be socially acceptable behavior, normalizing the filming/taking pictures of people in public who are minding their own business (and putting it online) is one of the worst developments of the past 15 years.

Me and Joan Didion have so much in common: She had a Coke for breakfast, I have Coke Zero for breakfast. We both grew up in Sacramento. Neither of us could bake a birthday cake; I find her hot chocolate soufflés to be a totally normal response to that. If only I had an ounce of her writing talent.

Corporate Media is going to pretend that Trump is heartbroken about the two West Virginian National Guardsmen being shot in DC, but the entire point of moving a standing army into a peaceful city was to induce violence by The People to justify more violence by Trump on The People in retaliation.

Couldn’t sleep, maybe 3 hours. But had a great dream (I almost never remember them)! Pro BMX dudes doing great tricks but one had also interned with a baker and was showing off his pastries, was extremely proud of the laminating of his croissants.

Turns out the real threat to women and children were the Republicans in charge. They scapegoated trans people to deflect from their own sex crimes against women and children.
As all this disgusting Epstein shit starts surfacing more and more, I hope we don't lose sight of the fact that apparently every major media outlet knew everything and instead spent their time money and energy attacking the trans community.

I reached out to Gillibrand and Schumer back in October. Received a very tepid response from Gillibrand’s office and none from Schumer’s. Moving forward I will ONLY vote for truly left leaning/progressive politicians. I’m done with the lesser of two evils approach/centrist democrats. AOC is RIGHT.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

It’s interesting the things we take from our families. Memories. Lessons. Even in complicated families I hope others can point to at least 1 positive thing. For me, being the baby/last of 5 (& an 18 year difference btwn me & the 1st), it’s the music. From my parents to my siblings, so many genres.

My office captured several stills from today’s
@dhsgov.govmirrors.com video supporting Gregory Bovino. The imagery is deeply troubling; it evokes another era when masked government agents rounded up so-called “undesirables" (I’m sure that’s just a coincidence).

Highly relatable. I try to live my life without regrets but I do wonder how differently life could have been for me if I’d done it earlier.
despite all the fear mongering about trans people and the attempts to abandon and actively harm us from both political parties in the US, transitioning is still the greatest decision i’ve ever made, only regret i have is not doing it younger, and that it has only made my life infinitely better
