Nothing like getting a "usually i get a copy of X" from someone who never requested a copy of X during the year we have been working together. (This is a library adjacent subtweet but is not about a coworker.)

Jeff: "The vet was impressed with her (Navi's) rage."

She's ok, she was having some back end issues and we wanted to rule out anything more serious. Working theory is age (same babe) or mild jump related injury.

So weird seeing familiar names as reviewers for Choice!

I don't think I'll ever get over "Hey, I know that guy!!"

TIL Keyboarding/typing can only be taught to 7-12th graders by a licensed business education teacher in Wisconsin.

That explains why there are so many business education teachers...

what makes NYC one of the greatest cities in the world in the same way London and mumbai are is that nothing ever fazes the people in these places. A guy dressed as a rat carrying a slice of pizza bigger than the average child? Sidestep, take the railing go about your day and never think of it again

Navi just bit a tongue depressor in half (during her vet visit).

She's fine btw, just her regular angry tiger self.

Guess who has to drive 40 miles to go renew their plates because the SoS can't verify my insurance online?

(That's the closest office that has an appointment before they expire.)

(Note: this is like 80% my fault but also apparently the offices just...don't do walk ins anymore?)

Most of the time it isn't too awful to be apart from Jeff because work, but tonight when he has actual maybe tornado? Dislike.

(It will be fine. The condo is mega safe, foot thick brick walls and a bedroom with no windows.)

A library thing the surprised me:

A not insignificant number of our children's CDs have circulated within the last 18 months.

I work at a university so it's not like we are collecting for small humans to use themselves. And none of our students have CD drives in their computers anymore.

Neigh-bro just thre like a couch into the street.

I too am annoyed about people dumping things on our corner, but, um, perhaps there is a better way to handle this?

...okay.

So.

Columbia's campus actually has a history of storming the library for MANY reasons. Including the night before the organic chemistry exam.

So I just feel like this is going to be a really interesting situation.

Whew, there is about to be some discussion around that DEI article in C&RL.

Times like this I miss library Twitter because I would like to watch from the side.

We give out popcorn to students at the end of the semester (delightful!).

The only problem?

The popcorn maker is outside my office and now my whole life smells like popcorn and it is delicious.

Watching a true crime show and it is

a) from my hometown

b) about the guy who almost delivered me as a baby

(My mom had me c-sectioned because her doctor was going on vacation and she REALLY disliked murder-doctor.)

Just renewed my lease and immediately was woken up by people being obnoxious outside my window.

I get it my dudes but also it is 930 and I don't need to listen to you swearing in the parking lot.

Don’t shame people for not immediately reading all the books they buy. Some books aren’t made to be ready right away, okay? Some books need time to mature. Some books need to cure for a while. Some books are prosciutto, and don’t you forget it.

There were TWO award winning picture books written about the ecosystems around dead whales published in the last year.

Sometimes buying children's literature is weird.

The ALA election results for the smaller sections are unhinged. So many weird write ins. So many "this person ineligible because they were already elected".
