i feel like there's a mid point between these two

- keep everything in a sorted list
- if it's too big, create a root b-tree node, where leading zeros hash(key) is >= to tree height
- and repeat

which should give wider, shallower trees than an mst, but without the update costs of prolly's hash

where i am: prolly trees are wide and shallow, so have a higher cost for copy on write, but a lower cost for navigation, and inserts may require recomputing rolling hash

but merkle search trees (and any binary merkle tree) will have a lower update overhead, easier inserts, but slower lookups

bringing back a classic

an adaptation of the sandy loam chart, aka, a triangle where each side is an axis from 0 100, forming triangular little pockets in the center in a pseudo-3-axis chart form. the three axes are "hoinky sploinky" "doinky woinky" and "rinky dinky," each with a "pure" form (penis music, furret walk, and ukelele covers respectively). there is a minor screed here about electroswing sucking, which it does.
