Over the years I've been asked many times for advice on pedagogy, what to read to learn more, etc. I've finally put together a bunch of materials into one blog post: Key Advice • Readings • Neuromyths • For Computer Scientists • Classroom Tips. Enjoy!

Space news is the best. Like, what do you mean there's a runaway supermassive black hole 10 million times bigger than the sun moving through space at 2 million miles per hour www.space.com/astronomy/bl...
James Webb Space Telescope confirms 1st 'runaway' supermassive black hole rocketing through 'Cosmic Owl' galaxies at 2.2 million mph: 'It boggles the mind!'
"The forces that are needed to dislodge such a massive black hole from its home are enormous."

Fascinating stories of Chinese workers who migrated from rural areas to Guangdong in 2006-15: skillfully collected by the poet Zheng Xiaoqiong, translated by Eleanor Goodman, insightfully introduced by @kaiserkuo.bsky.social—and, thankfully, published by @equatormag.bsky.social.

Interested in resources to help students learn what "counts" as an argument when interpreting a text. Because they're accustomed to more empirical modes of argument, they struggle with the difference between "interpret" and "just say your opinion." Any resources that outline this in a helpful way?

Some more details:
-a 1-time, 5% wealth tax on billionaires currently living in the state
-affects around 200 people
-moving won't matter; based on 2025 residency
-billionaires earn 7.5%/yr, they'd still come out ahead
-yields enough to cover the Medicaid gap for 5 years & have some $ left for K-12
California is readying a one-time 5% tax on billionaires for the 2026 ballot that would go toward compensating for Trump's Medicaid cuts. The architects see it as a national model.
It will be announced today.
