“People like Mamdani are their worst nightmares,” Sanders said of the GOP. “It’s one thing for the Democrats to be strongly against Donald Trump. It is another thing to give working class people something to vote for — a positive agenda.” -from AP article. I crave a positive agenda.

I heard the Moon theme from DuckTales NES video game in the background of a YouTube video. It has been in my head for days.

Here is a nice version of it. youtu.be/PPy_AHIIkZY?...

Can Gold or Glory tempt Rick Moranas back to the silver screen? No. Only the friendship of Mel Brooks can accomplish that. Rumors have flooded my Internet.

We should tax the pants off of robot workers (or really the owners who profit from robotic labor).

We should also tax anyone profiting from AI at a higher rate. Since they steal from society, they should have to give back to society.

I reported on economics full-time in 2020. It taught me there are no incentives to have a baby in the US. Women in the US have to pay for pre-natal, medical and child care, earn less, do most of the parenting and chores, get promoted less, and are now at 27% higher risk of maternal mortality.

As tariffs pass 100% between China and the U.S. I worry that the cost of war between the us becomes much lower.

When we are number one trade partners war would be massively expensive. If trade is strangled the opportunity cost of ending peace is much lower.

A reminder that if the government can send migrants to a prison camp without any due process, it can send U.S. citizens there, too. I know because this happened to me and my family in 1942.

"Read" the first book in the Murderbot Diaries: All Systems Red.

Short but good. Only 3 hours long as an audiobook.
Our protagonist security bot with a hacked Governor chip explores the no mans land between living as a bio-robot servant and member of humanity.

Finishing up "Fifty Beasts to Break Your Heart" by folklorist GennaRose Nethercott.
An anthology of original short horror stories. Ranging from weird to cruel to uneasy. I have enjoyed her work previously, her novel Thistle Foot is excellent. She is also a writer for the Lore Podcast.

@timothysnyder.bsky.social May I read this piece in a video? I agree with every point wholeheartedly.
Language used by individuals associated with the federal government who deported people without trial or due process to a concentration camp in El Salvador, defying a court order, has a specific resonance that, historically, has been used to change regime type.
