Becoming one of my favorite writers...
Thread.

Something nice happened to me yesterday: the conclusion - or maybe not - of a story of interconnectedness, that made the world feel momentarily very small and intertwined.

The story begins on April 21 2024 on a walk I'd taken along the Jurassic Coast for research for a book I was writing.

amazing Alabama archives story -- I'm at a loss for words except, what an inheritance.
A friend was processing the George Wallace collection at the Alabama state archives. She sent me a copy of a letter to Wallace parents asking him to not “stand in the schoolhouse door” in June 1963. It was from my parents.
I think we need a mega thread of everyone's craziest archive stories.

Rick Steves completely understands the Spirit of Christmas (read the whole thread!) 🎄❄️💖
It's an invisible need… an invisible center… helping invisible people. Meanwhile, I’m haunted by the invisible impact of the insatiable greed that’s so widespread (and sadly, celebrated) in our multi-millionaire and billionaire class.
