Yes, we do have Racism in Tunisia. Unsurprisingly, since we internalised it from them, we share the same attitude as the French. We act like it doesn't exist. We need to confront our bias. It's only now starting to show with the uptick of migration from our south, but it's been there a long time.

Even the Nazis respected that one rule of war. DO NOT KILL MEDICS. I changed my opinion Israel is not like Nazi Germany, it's like Empirial Japan.

No matter how low you set the bar some will take it as a challange.

A friend once told me, when we were discussion migration destinations, that they crossed out Scandinavia because "taxes were too high". No matter how much I argued that's why they have strong safety nets and are some of the happiest people in the world.

Taxes are your subscription to society.
Hey, that’s my whole bit 👋
These are dark times for Tax Positivity, but I believe from this wreckage we will have a chance to build an economy where we can pay our taxes with pride knowing we’re contributing to the common good

The incoming NIH Director has repeatedly stressed the importance of open science and open data.

Now petabytes of NIH-hosted research data are about to be lost on his watch.

Massive, Unarchivable Datasets of Cancer, Covid, and Alzheimer's Research Could Be Lost Forever
Days before Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced that 10,000 HHS staffers would lose their jobs, a message appeared on NIH research repository sites saying they were "under review."

Hi, I'm @mek.fyi and for 9 years I've run the @openlibrary.org at @archive.org, where 11M patrons world-wide rely on us to preserve society's library books, many which can't be accessed elsewhere. 🎲 Markets, politics, employment could change: I pledge to keep Aaron Swartz's Open Library OPEN 📖. Why?

You see the right also support redistribution of wealth, they always have. It's just from whom it's coming from and to whom it's going that you really have to question.
Trump says he’ll use revenue from tariffs to “offset” more big tax cuts.

Those tax cuts will disproportionately benefit wealthy Americans and big corporations.

But revenue raised from tariffs will be coming disproportionately from average working people.

See how this works?

All around the world, healthcare professionals rely on research conducted in the US. Some of this data has taken years and decades to collect. Losing it is nothing short of a tragedy.

This is the modern day burning of the Library of Alexandria.

How could you not? I know it may feel like it has been a decade. But that was just a few months ago.
Remember when Republicans pretended they cared that you were paying $1 more for eggs before enabling Trump to destroy the entire economy, gut your 401K, and send the price of literally everything higher?

New in PN: Trump’s third term threats are not a distraction

"When Trump talks about a third term, it’s not just a distraction. It’s as close as he gets to telling the truth. He's an authoritarian who hates the Constitution and wants to rule forever. That’s a message which we ignore at our peril."

After cutting social security, we can’t imagine a more direct attack on senior citizens than this. Dementia is one of the biggest health challenges facing seniors (and their families) today.
RFK Jr is cutting Alzheimer's research to the tune of $3.9 billion.

I can't state this more clearly. The fraction of the American population that is elderly and susceptible to dementia is large and growing fast. This is a critical population health crisis. It needs more attention, not less.

Look. Fuck the USA, they are the world police and the modern day empire. HOWEVER, Russia and China are also fucking terrible. In the past, the US was a mildly better choice, but not anymore.

We need real multipolarity but Russia and China shouldn't be thought of as our saviours.
Closely inspecting the list of tariffs/countries posted by the White House, Trump did not put tariffs on Russia. Ukraine's tariff is 10%, the EU's is 20%, and every American ally is on the list. But not Russia.

The action taken against Marie Le Pen is necessary for the preservation of democracy. This is the paradox of tolerance again. As contradictory as it might seem. If we toloreate the intolerant, they spread their hate and intolerance. If you're anti-democracy, you don't get to use it to overturn it.
