This morning I presented at #IST25 in Lisbon! I presented work from the Horizon2020 project #ROBINSON on how technologies face varying social acceptance in Norway. Energy technologies may face opposition due to local paradoxes, but even ambivalence can be problematic @transitionsnetwork.bsky.social

Thanks to colleagues at @uibcet.bsky.social and to my PhD supervisors Håvard Haarstad @sneby.bsky.social @mahiryazar.bsky.social for support in article writing, as well as Greg Marsden and Karolina Isaksson for feedback that contributed to the final version of this paper.

Public narratives of sustainable transport overlook the land use consequences of freight and ignores the assumption that freight quantities will inevitably continue to increase. Without a reinforcement of public narratives to "shift" and "avoid" freight, business narratives will not follow.
rafaelrosales.bsky.social
Although both the public and business sectors have ambitious goals for decarbonisation of transport fleets, and despite the fact that consolidation is a "given" in logistics, shifts of freight transport to less energy intensive modes and avoidance of transport generation are not being addressed well

I have 1 more PhD-related news to share: my last PhD-article has finally been published!

In "Less emissions or less freight? Conflicting narratives for sustainable logistics in Norway" I compare public and business narratives of sustainable logistics. www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
Less emissions or less freight? Conflicting narratives for sustainable logistics in Norway
Logistics is a vital yet energy-intensive sector and policies for sustainable logistics require cooperation between public authorities and businesses.…

grok 2 vs grok 3
Grok 2's conclusion: Climate change is not a distant threat—it is happening now, and its impacts are intensifying. It threatens human health, economies, ecosystems, and global stability. While the challenge is immense, solutions exist, and immediate action can still make a difference. Governments, businesses, and individuals must act urgently to reduce emissions, adapt to changes, and build a sustainable future. The cost of inaction far outweighs the cost of action, and the time to act is now. conclusion: So, urgent threat? If you buy the consensus, yes-time's ticking, and impacts are already here. If you're skeptical, it's more of a manageable shift we're overreacting to. Data's there on both sides; it's about what risks you're willing to bet on. What do you think?

My two previous colleagues @iamsubina.bsky.social and @shayanshokrgozar.bsky.social discuss the perils of academia - with the extra stress of residence and visa issues! Very important topics in “globalised” academia

Publication alert 🚨

Urban authorities have a larger role in urban freight governance than they paint for themselves. More active public governance can contribute to the institutionalisation of knowledge needed to make urban freight more sustainable in the long term.
Is it enough to enable freight? Modes of governance for urban logistics in Norway
Urban freight transport is central to urban societies, and yet urban authorities have traditionally left it to private actors to resolve freight challenges. Urban authorities rely on different gove...

When it comes to steering urban logistics towards sustainable outcomes, local governments may have more influence than they think - according to a new paper from SEG visiting fellow @iamsubina.bsky.social and her co-authors Havard Haarstad & @rafaelrosales.bsky.social.
