I read the other day that the vast majority of indie game devs on Steam are releasing their first game, and the author was wondering why. I think I know.
Making a game on top of a job and cooking and cleaning and all the other things you have to do in life, drives you insane, if you aren't already.

I'm going to embarrass myself and admit I don't get why the prevailing wisdom is visual novels/dating sims, etc. are only complete after clearing every route.
Game reacting to my decisions and ending accordingly? Magic.
Repeating until I've exhausted every choice? That's a checklist, not a story.
